Did you buy this truck new ??

Did you install the extra goodies yourself .??

Less then 10 mph I can`t see it causing all that much damage now if you were moving 35 to 40 mph that would be different

Then without being under the truck and measuring we are all only making a guess at best

Then being this is California perhaps they have strange laws on the books about Estimates we else where have no clue about .

Then we all have different skill sets

    Best of Luck

I could see perhaps a bent spindle or maybe bent a cam tab, but I really dont see a bent frame at 5mph. Your truck idles at about 10mph lol, so you had to be actively hitting the brakes to keep it at 5 or less

Yes I bought the truck new and purchased the lift, wheels, camper shell, Thule rack through the dealer. I also re geared it as well.

The frame may be bent an inch that I can't see, but what I think is the body shop and the ins co will not "bend" things back and then give back to me for liability reasons, they're both liable if anything happens. And they don't want to pay for the labor involved in replacing the frame, hence it may be totaled

If you have anyone you can trust I would call them and bring it over there. The reasoning being on my 02 tacoma ball joint jumped off while I was driving. My tire flew off and my car skidded on the road. I was told my frame was totaled and all of these things. It ended up just being a new ball joint and a few other things. Its hard to tell from photos may just be your lift kit. just my 2 cents though.

Find the best bodyshop in your area that offers lifetime warranty on their repairs, AND your one that insurance company recommends.

Pay the deductible and get your truck repaired. If it's totaled, it's totaled. Take the payout and buy a replacement. Been there, done that.

    YMMV

Yeah I'll take the payout, buy back then repair it if that's the case. Anyone have any figures on what I might expect to buy it back once totaled??

Worth the effort, over finding another truck?

I honestly believe the IC knows the value as a wreck. That truck would sell for $15k+ at auction. Are you prepared to plunk that kind of CASH down?

Most banks will not loan money to buy a salvaged titled vehicle.

Your IC might give you first dibs at $10k.

What insurance company do you have? No way in hell would I let them tell me that. I would pull every major aftermarket part I bought off the truck. Then I would install the stock parts back on. I know quite a few people that have done this.

Thx koditten for chymin in. $10000 eh?
Rmepilot-it sure is worth it. There possibly could be very minimal damage considering I could maybe fix for $5000 almost perfect. The truck is paid off. Someone earlier gave a $27000 pay out amount. $27000-$10000 buy back $7000 to fix=$10,000 left over to do whatever w I want...like a new bumper, coil overs and control arms. And a super sweet rig

Those numbers are hypothetical. Every situation is different and the IC will always push for what's best in their interest.

If the damage is minimal, then it's probably not totaled.

I think this is the best post. Really can't give real advice until the IC has the final say. The only thing i can offer is i know what i have paid for salvage Toyota trucks.

The estimate I got was $1000 to straighten, $3000 to fix body.

Thanks all for the input, I'll post when I get the final decision. I know the thread has morphed but the mainreason I posted in the first place was to confirm that a new frame and body work would cost $20000, I was shocked when told that, but apparently it can cost that much

I can't understand what's wrong with the body/cab. Nothing is hit to it, right? $3000 repair bill, which consists of? I think the door caps might be the same as before...

5 mph. I know everyone here is shocked that that speed can cause damage. Try driving your car at 5mph then slam on the brakes, it's a lot of force
