Lift Dilemma! Fox 2.0 vs. OME

Hey all, just when I thought I finalized my lift choice I found another option. I'm stuck between a 2" Fox lift with 2.0 aluminum body shocks (front and rear) and a 3" OME lift. Question is, will that extra 1" of lift be THAT important? And which of my 2 options would you choose? (I'm more of an overland and high speed sand kind of guy [will have RTT mounted] and put down 15k-20k miles on pavement each year.)

Option 1: Fox 2.0 Performance Series Coilover front and Fox 2.0 Performance Series Reservoir rear plus Headstrong 3 leaf AAL.

Option 2: Full OME Kit w/ Dakars and LR UCA's.

I reallllly wish fox would offer something in the 3inch range. Thats the only reason im not even considering them.

Since youre high speed kind of guy, id recommend icon or king resis. Get UCAs and the extended travel versions, buy once cry once. If youre going to be adding weight, take that into consideration, OME offers just over 600 lbs with 886s, icon and king offer 700lb springs.

I went from spacer lift to bilstein/ome and now searching looking into king set up. Its just better to do it once, wish I did.

 

I wish I could do a full resi setup from Icon, but unfortunately that really isn't in the cards until I can take the truck off of DD duty and create it to be more of a dedicated 4x4. Well, that and the whole money thing. Spending ~$1500 give or take on a lift is my current version of "buy once cry once: college student edition"

 

For 1500 id get bilstein 6112 up front on the 5th notch and 5160 in the rear with Dakars. No room for ucas but can get them later, thats about 2.5 up front with better shocks than nitro chargers

Or icon standard travel with 700lb springs and icon standard rear with an AAL, that may be just over 1500, again no uca but can get them later as the front is adjustable up to 3.5 lift

I cant imagine a fox set up with ucas being under 1500, once you get out of nitrocharger or 5100 and into performance coilovera youre swimming past 1500

 

Yeah, the Fox setup would only be 2" and shouldn't need UCA's. My sub $1500 price would just be the 2.0 shocks F&R and AAL. If I went OME I'd definitely get them.

 

do option 2. best bang for the buck. option 1 is nice but your budget holds you down for everything else you might need.

 

or keep saving and get everything you wish you could get now. that's what I did and now I have an ideal set up

 

I technically have the money to go crazy on a fancy setup, I just can't get myself to spend that much. Well, that and I simply don't wheel enough or hard enough to truly justify a hardcore setup at the moment. Maybe down the road, but my current situation won't "let" me as of now. So at the moment I'm just between these two, which through all of the research I'm doing don't seem to be that bad either way.

 

I would go for the ome then. you'll like it for sure
