There are a couple threads with lots of good info and product recommendations. I've posted what I use and find works quite well, that might help with the search.

I fold down the rear seats and cover the folded down seat back with 2 grey color matching door mats with ant slip on the underside... can take out and wash pretty easy... someone needs a ride throw the mats in the truck bed fold seat up. Not the safest for my buddy but he's made it this long @ 15 years.... got the mats at Ikea... originally for our front door but the color was perfect for the Taco so we bought extras.

 

so many options for the seat, I want something for covering the doors.
fuckin bitch always scratches everything when she tries to put her head out the window, she is yet to be allowed in the taco unless there is another passenger that can hold her and keep her calm so she doesn't scratch everything.

Yeah wow.... my dog just stands there with head between wifey and my shoulders... looks out the front... when he feels the need once in a while... I get a lick. That's when I know all is well in the world.

Scratching and carrying on... no good. I have boats so all my dogs have had that experience from puppies... they tend to stand still in boats specially canoes, unless swimming. My dog we have now hates water he realized right quick to stand still or he and we go overboard. After that he did the same in the truck. No pacing no scratching .... stands still or lays down.

 

Buy a cap for your bed, that's what I did for my shepherd If you don't want a cap that hammock cover that @0210 linked to on Amazon looks pretty awesome -- I might buy that for myself as I will be moving to Arizona in a month and might have the bed filled up with stuff an no room for the dog.

 

I've got the hammock type cover, but thanks dude, will definitely be getting that as well for the door.

Where did you get yours from on this side of the wall?

Hah. Yeah I'm 30 min from the border + nexus pass. I get everything down south.

 

makes sense then.
I always get hassled crossing the border.
Last time I went down I still had my work boots in my car and they were asking me if I was coming down to work, they were going to deny me entry until they went through my phone and saw the email from Kinek that my package was waiting just down the street from the border crossing.

 

Yeah, I bought some black naughyde and fastened it to the top of the door window sill with Velcro. My border collies doesn't scratch but paws the window when she wants it open. Same effect, haha. the door covers work great and you don't really notice them. Its easy for back seat passengers to reach underneath and use the latch or the window opener. My seat cover is one I ordered from LL Bean for a previous vehicle. Not a great fit, but it does the job. In the bad weather my dog gets pretty dirty so I need something that I can remove and easily wash, and this does that.

 

my girl gets all nervous in the car now in her older age. she gets all anxious and starts crying and going side to side and what not unless someone is holding her.

She used to be great, would just lay down and sleep, now not so much.
Same case when she was younger though, and I took her to the beach or park, she'd always get filthy


Now days this is all I deal with


She's 14 now so not so energetic anymore.

 

Yeah, my dog loves riding, when she hears the word "truck" she wakens from her deepest nap and stands at attention next to the back door as if to say "please... don't leave me behind!". haha. She's old too, at least for a border collie. she's 11. She's a rescue, hard to believe she was so neglected that the humane society seized her from her previous owner. She's just happy to be alive, and moves from side window to side window in the back trying to get the best view and breeze. My truck is now pretty dog proof, so she can do whatever she wants back there.

 

I use Marathon seat covers with a WeatherTech seat protector in the rear. They both take a beating and hold up to just about anything.

 

Thanks for the links. For now, I'm using a few old fitted bed sheets. The elastic keeps em in place and they wash easily. @oldtoyotaguy, Border Collie as well and same behavior. Funny and smart little guy. And absolutely loves his head out the window, no matter what the temp outside.
