    Hi
Just wanted to find out if anyone else has had this happen.

I just picked up my brand new 4x4 TRD Sport (magnetic grey double cab) and my radio is not working right.

When I press the AM/SAT button only AM comes up. Manual says it should cycle through AM, SAT1, SAT2... Odd...

    Anyhow had this happen? Thanks

Yes I know you have to pay, but when I press the button it doesnt even change to SAT1, SAT2, or XM. I actually already have a Sirius account and will transfer it, but I cant get the radio to switch over. I also believe with the TRD you get 3 mo free.

Ok, I'll ask the stupid question. Did you purchase the XM option? Yes, the stock radio is XM ready but it doesn't come stock with the XM receiver. You do have the antenna and the prewiring but unless you purchased the receiver you'll only see AM when you press the AM/SAT button.

Thanks, I just figured this out a couple minutes ago. What a rip. I have to spend $250 to get the Sirius crap. Not happy about it because the dealer has no clue

Did you order the truck with the XM receiver installed?

The trucks are XM "ready" not XM installed. This means that the radio is pre-wired and has the controls to interface with a remote XM module, not that all radios have it built in. It is about a $400 option. If there is not a module installed in the truck the radio only has AM to toggle to. I think you need the install kit and a couple hours of work.

I installed mine and before the install the radio works as you describe.

Oops TLeath was typing at the same time.........

You're welcome and sorry the dealer either didn't know or didn't tell you this.

Before you run out and spend the almost $300 to get this option you might want to search through this site about the rather crappy radio. Oh, it sounds ok (at least to me) but there are real problems with this head unit. They turn off on their own, the display blanks out, the display light sometimes works sometimes doesn't, and the volumn contol knob is real iffy. I've been through four replacement units and my truck is only 1 year old. If I had known how this unit was I would have saved the money I spent to get the XM option and applied it on a good aftermarket unit with XM.

if you have xm installed, you should have the satellite antenna on the roof and even if your subscription is not activated (which you can activate on your own online, no need to go to dealer), you should still be able to go through sat 1 to sat 3 and channel 0 will show your xm radio id for activation.

A lot of friggin money for a radio signal not to mention adding subscription price in there also. Needless to say, I did not opt for XM receiver.

I think they should have used HD FM as standard instead of the crappy analog FM. I think it is standard on Infiniti vehicles and would guess comes with Nissans. I do like the XM, no commercials and chit chats, and digital quality sound. you would never listen to FM again once you have listened to XM. It cost $9.99 a month and I am sure we all have blown away a lot more money than that on less useful stuff. :)

I got my 2010 TRD in October 2009 and the dealer told me that I got three months free subscription. I also have the six disc, six speaker JBL stereo with the subwoofer. I think that is the package that allows you to get the free subscription, not just the TRD option. The receiver was already built into the truck. I didn't have to do anything to activate it. It is going on four months since I have had it and I haven't received anything from XM regarding paying for a subscription.

I wonder if the trial has a grace period/extension for the trial. Can anyone confirm how long before their trial ended?

I like it so far and will sign up for the music only package. The 10 character limit on the text is annoying though, but it's a whole lot better than hoping the DJ will mention the song title at the end.

I had the same problem with my radio.. The way it is listed on the window sticker it sounded as if it was included. Salesperson was even confused. I argued with them and said it was miss leading, they ended up installing for free

ok, I just got a letter from xm in the mail saying my 3 month trial period is ending soon, and if I don't sign up for uninterrupted service, there will be an activation fee if I decide to sign up later. anyone experienced this?

I do plan to sign up with music only package, but the the letter only gave me the full xm package option. I'll probably give them a call.

I know last year there was a coupon going around for a lifetime subscription package for like $300 I think, have not found one recently.

the subscription price is not that bad. My girl picked up a rav 4 with 90 day free xm.
Xm already called her to tell her if she wanted to extend that, they would do 1 year at a nicley discounted price.

Being a former Sirius subscriber, i still get mail saying i could get the next -3-6 months for $20.
    Been thinking about resubscribing.
I have an after market sirius radio.
But have been tempted to do the stock radio thing.

    oppss. Old thread.
