Question on tire rotation

How many of you have your spare tire included in your tire rotations?

 

Nah, I don't feel it's necessary...

 

My spare tire isn't even the same size.

 

Nope...It's a spare. Gets you to a place where you can repair/replace a damage tire.

Right now- I don't have a spare at all...and when I get one- it'll be a used POS that holds air.

 

Too much work.... (since I rotate the tires myself).

 

I cant even jack up my truck to change a tire. I need sliders and a hi lift before i do get a flat or im f***ed

 

Years ago when the spare was a regular size tire- It was rotated with the others. than when new tires were purchased- the least worn was the spare. It was supposed to prolong getting 4 new tires. Does anyone do it if you have a new vehicle ?

 

I would very much LIKE to include it, but Toyota made my spare with a steel spare wheel instead of another regular wheel.

I think I might try to acquire a matching spare alloy so I can add the spare into the rotation. Better than letting the spare rot under the bed for years until it has to be replaced without ever being used...

true, and now most tires are just rotated front to back, back to front.

 

As stated earlier- why let it rot ?

 

I just done my tires a couple days ago (left the spare out of the loop), but I went by the manual which says to just go front and back, and not to criss cross the front 2 tires as this diagram shows...how important is it to not criss cross them?? and which is right?

 

according to the manual, you did it correctly. i rotate mine per the manual also.

 

You can rotate your tires any way that you want as long as they are not directional tires. Checking the owners manual is great if you have stock tires. Check out the tire manufacturers website for more details. If you have uneven tire wear, you can rotate you tires in a manner that will help correct this issue, just make sure to get an alignment.
