I'm about to order new suspension parts this week.

I'm looking to get the 6112 for the front and set them at the 4th notch.

And in the rear, I was going with Dakars and probably the 5100 B110 shocks.

Anyone have experience with this setup?

I have 5100s in the front and rear now, front on the 1.75" mark and Icon 3 leaf AAL in the rear (had factory 3 leaf and removed overload when adding these 3). The rear is sagging now with the new ARE Z Series and Pelfreybilt Rear Bumper.

You are doing the B110 for the extended length?

If they're needed with the lift of the Dakars. If not, I'll replace my current regular 5100s with another set

I have 5125s in the rear with modified (top overload out) Dakars. They are great together.

The valving is better than the 5100.
There may be an extended version too. Not totally sure on that though.

Yes. I have that setup and it works very well for my uses.

Which model 5125 are you running? There are like 20 variations.

    http://www.bilsteinus.com/uploads/tx_templavoila/5125_Applications_01.pdf

The 5125 will specify valving in the specs, it's a universal series shock.

Also there is no way to make a direct technical comparison of the valving between the 5100 and 5125 using Bilstein's literature. The reason for this is because Bilstein does not publish valving for 5100 shocks, because they are "custom tuned" for each vehicle. Same goes for 6112.

Just went though all this earlier this month

    6112 update.

My second wheeling adventure. Probing further the characteristics of the 6112's during six hours of seat time.
    • Technical crawling
    • Fast Desert Running
    • Emergency evasive maneuvers
    • Vehicle stability in extreme wind at interstate speeds

I'm extremely pleased with the 6112's performance on pavement and especially in the dirt. I air down to 19 PSI and the ride is very nice. If I could sum up my experience with these shocks in one sentence it would be "Comfort and control on and off-road"

The 6112's are light years better than my old 5100/885 setup. So much so, I wouldn't recommend them anymore. Anyone comes asking me, I'm gonna tell them to save up for the 6112's For the money, can't go wrong. And even though my rig is purpose built off-road, I don't think I'd trade the 6112's for the 8000's series they got now. Very, very pleased with my new front end.

Checking it out now, thank you.

    Great build sir!

What setting do you have the 6112 at?

In the rear, those isolators you had installed on the springs, do you have them on both ends of each spring?

For weight I have a DCSB with a ARE Z series, a tool box, high lift, and Pelfrey rear bumper. I will probably be getting a hybrid front sometime in the summer... do you see the 6112 at 4th notch and Dakar with no AAL sitting even?

When I looked on Wheelers to order 6112s, they say they can be assembled with 600lb, 650lb, or 700lb springs. Obviously the heavier springs will give a stiffer ride, but any idea about ride height? Is it possible to use the 650lb spring on a lower setting and actually get a better ride than the 600lb spring on a higher setting?

I currently have 650lb Eibach springs on 5100s and am very happy with them. I'm interested in getting the 6112s with the 650lb springs, but have no idea what effect they have on lift, if any, different from the 600lb.

Anyone have experience with the heavier springs?

    Thanks.

    Yes isolaters on each ends.

The Dakar pack was redesigned. New design has isolators now from what I've seen. If you haven't bought yet. I'd consider confirming details prior to shipping.

With shell and steel bumper, I'd get the AAL for the Dakar.

6112 at 3 on driver, and 2 on passenger.

I tried setting 4 and did not like it. Too much lift for me. I like my truck to have some rake, and when I'm loaded out heavy for a trip it levels out.

    Thank you.
Good to hear they may have isolators now, I'll be sure to check.

I'm not a fan of a lot lift either, I'll have to see what setting I want to go with.

Your UCAs... why did you go Ball joint over Uni?

    Chiming in here...

I talked with Camburg before purchasing mine. The recommendation was since I live where it rains (and we have mud) the ball joint was a better choice.

The uni-balls would work in a harsh environment, but they would squeak and require more maintenance than if they were run in the desert.
