    Alright well....

My old taco (RIP) I went all out and got the Billies front and rear (set at .75,middle clip I think, so it wasnt maxed out), rear AAL, Eibach Coils...that whole deal. Well I loved the Height and clearance it gave me, but the ride quality suffered drastically. So much worse than stock, but I sucked it up and lived with it. Well I ended up hitting some black ice and totaling that truck a few years back :(

Now I have the replacement for that old Taco. 2015 Sport DCLB Looking to lift again around 2.5 inches and after my last experience im thinking of trying a spacer lift. The ride cant possibly be worse than what I experienced before. Plus I wont have to spend upwards of $1,000. Im really not interested in spending that much again as I dont offroad.

I guess my question is...is the ride quality really that bad on a spacer lift? I saw a taco with the RC 3in spacer lift the other day. It sat quite well. You use the stock front strut with a spacer and a spacer on the back with a N2 shock.

Everyone is so against them and praises Toytec, OME, and Billies, but I dont feel the same. Am I crazy for thinking this????

    The old Taco:

    And the new:

Most people who either have a spacer lift or had one will tell you the ride didn't change from stock. Some will say their truck rode like total hell and the transmission blew along with the motor and the tires all popped at the same time.

I never noticed a change in ride quality with a spacer lift. My wife also did not after 110k+ miles. :notsure: No broken parts, no popped tires. :crapstorm:

This is based on a 2" spacer lift. I have no experience with anything larger than that.

the ride quality is just a bit stiffer then stock because of the preload on the coil. I've been on mine for about 7 years now w/60k with stock suspension. it is just now starting ride like crap but that could be from worn out coilovers.

I suppose we should specify what type of spacers we are all talking about. I've never used the kind that install INSIDE the coil assembly. I've only used the ones that install on TOP of the entire assembly.

    Yes. it is.

I went inexpensive (read "cheap") with a 2.5, then a 3" spacer lift and threw my money away.

IDGAF about others who say that "it rides perfect" with their SL. They are full of sh*t and are lying to themselves in an effort to hide their fuck up.

My .02.... wait... $350 CAD wasted on those pieces of shit.

Do it if you want. Not my money.

I put 65000 miles on my stock suspension. When the truck started feeling tired I replaced the shocks. I felt that $1400 was excellent value for Icon suspension, front and rear. Spread over the life of the truck it's really cheap in my opinion. I really enjoy the ride and stance. I wouldn't change a thing.

I would just have a hard time spending as much as I did last time to get the same result as a spacer. lol. I honestly dont want to spend much anyway. like 500 max.

Why not spend a little more and go with ome? I've heard a lot of good things with them.

Spacers ride fine, they just run the risk of breaking the shock on hard offroading. Top hat spacers typically ride closest to stock. Preload spacers ride harsh.

Once you go to a 2.5 top hat spacer the camber is harder to bring in, so budget for upper control arms down the road. The uppers make any lift ride better regardless of style.

Exactly. For driving on the street it's perfectly fine and with a decent alignment nobody would be able to tell a difference in ride quality of a top mount spacer. The spring rate stays EXACTLY the same so the ride stays EXACTLY the same.

Go for a ride in a truck with a spacer lift and you'll agree. Don't listen to Internet egos about how super badass their $300 shocks ride :drevil:. They just need a way to justify the money they spent

For $500 you can get a set of 5100's and some OME coils instead of a spacer. If you're doing the install yourself it can be done without a spacer for around $500.

I've got Icon/king/LR and Deaver leaf packs now. I've spent more than I care to admit on suspension at this point :anonymous:

Got a spacer lift on my 4runner. Doesn't feel like anything other than stock on the highway and cruisin around town.
