You have 5100s in the back with 3.5" rear lift? The rear 5100s aren't meant for over 1.5" otherwise they're ticking time bombs. Ask me how I know lol

More spring travel will put more force on topping out the shocks. (they will be fully extended but springs will still have quite a bit of preload trying to pull it apart)

I didn't have this problem with my 5125s but they blew out in under a year anyways. Im just gona say 5100s have hit or miss quality. My fronts have been on for 2 years and have taken a beating even with the eibachs

I blew out one of my 5125 in like 3 months, i got the ones that said like 1 to 3 inches of lift or something.

I think this might have been the the end of it too. Can't remember for sure.

Rear 5100s were designed for 1.5" of lift or less, 5125's are for 3" (maybe more, I'm not sure). I have a few friends I wheel with that had 5100s in the rear with 3" of lift and they've all had their's blow out, I have them too in the rear with 2.5" lift and so far they're okay, but I drive way more tame compared to most of the friends I wheel with.

Basically, as long as youre really careful you should be okay...but if you start to push them it's only a matter of time before they blow (or leak, at least).

King Extended travels up front on Total Chaos arms from @Downsouth Motorsports. OME Dakars on Nitrochargers. 265/75r16 Toyos. They are set around 2" of lift in the front and I've been pounding the hell out of them to get them to settle and adjust the Taco Lean out. Worth every penny. About to pull the trigger on Solo Motorsports WIY outboard shock hoops and King 2.5 for the rears. tmp_15499-IMG_12541-1026992962.jpg tmp_15499-20170118_163028-451609468.jpg tmp_15499-20170123_1614081026069617.jpg

Yeah I don't wheel. And rarely go off road. And mostly trails. If I DO do any type of flexing, I'm always cautious. I want to do a mid travel setup. I was gonna get kings up front and do a shock relocate later. And as far as the lift height goes in the back, like I said, I may be wrong on the actual amount of lift. Because it's just dakars. But in relation to the front, it's at like 3". Was at 3.5 But looks like it settled a lil. Is the rear lift amount different in correlation to the front lifting heights??

Edit: and I'm finding it hard to justify getting a mid travel setup with the kind of driving I do. Maybe in the future I'll change it up. For now it seems to serve me well.

youl probably want 1.5" or even bigger wheel spacers to clear 2.5" shock bodies outboard of the frame.

That looks like a close fit but very nice man. If you cranked the kings up to 2.5 do you think 275/75/16 tires would fit?

Yes 285s will fit, I have a set from another truck that I test fit when I puth the kit on. It is my daily though and I needed a smaller tire for the 2.7l. And as for @devinzz1 question, there is a write up from @Willbeck on this here:

    https://www.tacomaworld.com/threads/rear-shock-relocation-thread.261770/page-12

I cannot remember if he his running stock wheels though. I will probably move towards getting Konig Countersteers and spacers if the fitment in the rear is too tight.

He had 3.5"bs with smaller tires and still rubbed when articuating. Stock wheels are 4.5"bs.

Think it'd work better with 2.0's?
I think in the thread he said he had 2.5's.

He does yea. 2.0s will give 1/4" more room to work with if mounts stay in same place. But it can also give you the full 1/2" if you can move mounts closer to frame.
