One thing for sure, Jerry Taco and others are very passionate about this stuff, 3k + posts. The reality is, people are getting worked up about putting the Tacoma 2-3 INCHES higher in the air. The best thing to do is leave it stock, but the truck does look good a few more inches in the air, that's why people are looking on this thread. I am not going with spacers on my current build, but a one inch spacer is not a big deal. It is not a piece of metal "jammed in the springs", it is made to sit properly on top of the strut. If you get your truck aligned and perhaps add a differential drop, your truck will not implode. Most will take their truck down their favorite hunting or fishing lane, as I do, tough stuff on the truck. :) I would challenge those so highly opinionated about it to take it up with ToyTec, professionals at what they do. And now you can clearly see why I said if you go with a spacer don't talk about it on here, you will get your rear end reamed out. ;) I do appreciate the advice and experience on here, but there is more than one way to do things. And more importantly if one chooses to take a different route they shouldn't be belittled. Enjoy your trucks friends, and remember it is just a truck.

Badkitty, I agree 100%. In a prior life I ran my Shelby around a road course. The Mustang forums are full a people looking for the most HP possible with no regard for a solid foundation of suspension, drivetrain, brakes, and tires that have to all be built 1st. Otherwise you are continually chasing another broken part.

I have a 2017 TRD Pro Taco, and do some moderate crawling about monthly.
Because I didn't want to mess with the stock Fox suspension much right out of the gate, I went with a simple RevTek 1" spacer up front, and the Icon 1.5" AAL in the back, K02 285/75/R16's with the 1.25" wheel spacers all around to avoid rubbing the UCA's. I have honestly been loving it so far (bought in August '16, the first Pro Taco in TX).
Maybe it's blasphemy, but it gives me the small increase in ride-height I need to be functional without sacrificing ride quality. I had to do some minor trimming of the wheel-well to avoid rubbing with the larger tires, and only get minor rubbing of the tire against the frame when it's seriously flexed while turning (or turning with a truck load of heavy people lol).
It's been suggested by some hardcore off-roaders to trim the frame a bit to avoid rubbing, but honestly, I'm not personally willing to chop any bit of frame on a $45k+ truck. Maybe some day.

    Just my two cents.

Here's what she's looking like these days (minus the Camper Shell I added after this pic):

Need some help here guys! Just installed the icon Stage 3 kit on my 2017 offroad double cab short bed. Dealership installed as part of the deal.

They put 285-70R17 Duratracs on ATX Cornice wheels (17x9 with -12 offset 4.53 backspace)

They rub, BAD. Like half turn on level pavement and it hits the frame mount.

Castor is set at maximum (according to the alignment guy)

I need tire wheel suggestions that wont require cab mount chopping. Will a different wheel work for these tires and keep it from rubbing?

The Icons are height adjustable from 0-2.75", is it possible they are not set at full height?

Does any company make a lift like this for a third gen or is that full custom?

Anyone consider a small 1" body lift for some added tire clearance?

I've had a body lift before on my old Tacoma. Not sure what you mean as it doesn't affect ride or suspension at all...

I'm just looking to see if anyone has done a 1" body lift (not suspension spacer) on a 3rd Gen. I figure with a moderate 1.5" suspension and 1" body, it'd be a good lift without needing UCAs and messing with CV angles. Worked well on my old Tacoma and that thing more than stood up to abuse off road.

Okay so what should I buy to get a full 3-3.5inch lift? If I'm going to do coilovers I want the ride to be smooth and not have a super stiff spring in orde to get the 3 inches. What should I buy? Another reason I like the low range lift is because it comes with a diff drop and sway bar relocate.

I definetly agree that coilovers are better, I came from a 335i to the taco so I know what a good ride is like, its just a truck so I don't care too much if the ride is stiffer if I can save a grand or more.

I've put about 5k miles so far so good with wear. My brother has put about 16k on his Tundra, 35x12.5 and so far so good also. We will see. If I'm unhappy with the wear, I'll definitely consider another brand on my next set. All aside, the performance off road and in snow is extraordinary.

My 17 sport lifted with Bilstein 2nd gen 1500's and OME 887 coils. 1/4 inch spacer on the driver side.. For the rear I went with headstrong 3 leaf AAL with out the over load leaf.. Truck sits perfectly level. The wheels are 17x8.5 +6 offset with 285/70/17 Nitto Exo grapplers.

Edit: Forgot to mention, I did a diff drop and sway bar relocation kit.
