my icons feel a little stiff on fire roads and through washboard. i think i'll get a cdv upgrade when i have them rebuilt, that or swap them out for kings. but they only have like 20k on the clock, so that's a whiles away for me.

Mine are only 4 months old. I preloaded them to 3" of lift but lowered them down to 2.5" of lift. They ride a lot better than up at 3". But still aren't ideal for on/off road. A lot better off road for sure. I have BFG KO2's and the tire shop said since they're an E Rated tire, and made more for a heavier truck, I'm going to feel every bump in the road. Not sure if that's true or not. They had the tires aired up to 35psi. I was going to take some air out of them thinking they'd help with feeling every bump in the road. Or should I just leave them at 35psi? I'm trying to get the right set up between now and when I get my Icons revalved.

tire pressure is directly proportional to load. those E rated KO2's *can* be pumped up to like 60 PSI for a MUCH heavier truck. for our tacomas, the factory 29/32 PSI works just fine with the KO2's. they do have stronger/stiffer sidewalls than lighter tires, this is a good thing.

awhile back I found a LT tire size/weight/pressure chart, I think it came from Toyo tires, but is equally applicable to any other brand.

i run mtrs rn. i usually drop to 12.5-15psi at the trail. when they heat up they're back at 20-25.

the stock bfgs felt better on washboard and at 15psi and they didn't heat up as much.

running at stock pressure is a terrible thing on the trail since your tires are less pliable and more prone to puncture and you end up feeling more junk. the pressure you run on the road has to do with your actual weight vs tire vs tire pressure. the door sill pressure is assuming a stock truck with a single occupant and no load.

ideally, you'd use the appropriate pressure for your configuration at a given time. then again, we don't drive in idea conditions so ymmv.

yeah, low pressures are a must on soft stuff, gives you way more traction.

I planned on putting them at 25psi tomorrow. To drive back & forth to college all week. And around town. I don't haul ass or anything. Or will that low of pressure make me feel every bump in the road while going down the Interstate? I also just messaged that rock and road performance in Roseville to see what they have to say about revalving my Icons. We shall see. They're closer than DSM.

if you're running less than stock tire pressure on the highway and still feeling unacceptable ride quality, you have other issues. a chalk test should quickly determine the correct pressure at specific weight for tarmac.

I had a set of Toyo M/T tires that were E rated. They were rough as shit going down the road at 32psi. The tires I have now are Maxxis Big Horn's which are D rated. The difference in ride is very notable I don't think I will ever buy another E rated tire.

Yep Greg with Rock & Road Performance has been great with my items and valving requests. Very nice guy and great work with quick turn around times. Highly recommend. He just upgraded to a huge shop directly across from RuffStuff in Sacramento.
