How much are you paying for your 2017 Tacoma?

It's 3.9% in my region for tier 1+ customers with a 720+ credit score. I live in West Virginia but purchased my truck in Pennsylvania.
My cousins live in Georgia which is southeast Toyota financial and the dealership advertises 2.9% on the Tacoma for tier 1+ customers.

It's ridiculous that interest rates vary by location.

 

That's the APR I got through the credit union the dealership hooked me up with. I found out later that with my FICO score I could get 1.9%. I ended up refinancing through State Farm, my insurance carrier. They made it easy but I'll find out the hard way if it's a good idea or not...stay tuned for that. My first payment will be in mid February.

Dealerships tend to be 2% above the better rate a customer can get on their own. This can be a big difference in $$$$$ through the life of a loan.

 

Getting 10% off is as good as it gets from what I've seen so far as well. I don't have a problem with dealerships making "a little bit" off me, I just don't want to pay way too much. It's more of a problem with used cars.

 

Yeah. These dealerships mark up interest rates by 2% and of course Toyota financial services is in cahoots with the dealership so they can pad the profit for the finance manager with the 2% markup. I need to check into State Farm to refinance mine. Loan to value shouldn't be an issue since I put $10k down and already made a couple payments. It would be great to get that interest rate down to 1.9% as that would save several hundreds of dollars in interest.
Man why can't Toyota offer 0-0.9% like they do on the Camry and RAV4.

 

I wondered the same thing myself. They did have some deal going were they offered 0.9% "on select models"...which meant corollas and camrys only. Of course it wasn't on their trucks. It is smart to get pre-approved and get your own lender lined up before you buy something. I'm not sure how it works but hopefully someone on the forum could give advice.

However it seems easy to refinance for little or no cost. Credit unions seem to be one of the better options. I was surprised that State Farm was in the game as a lender. The only thing I've noticed is that everything is done on line. It makes me a little nervous to do much of anything financial related online...but I'm taking the leap on this deal. Also it appears that State Farm's lending and banking is backed by the FDIC. I made sure that was the case.

What kinds of Rates does State Farm have?

I was able to get 1.9%. This lowered me a full 2 percentage points from where I was at (3.9%). This is for a 5 year loan that I intend on paying off within 3 years. Paying a loan off early helps save you money as well because of the way the interest works...similar to a house loan.

 

Thanks, that's a great rate and you follow the exact same formula I do in taking out a 5 year loan and paying it off in 3. I never do automatic payments, always get the invoice mailed to me so I can pay extra each month.

 

I've thought of another idea too: everytime I save money on something, I make note of it in a little notepad. At the end of the month I add it up and if it's what a monthly payment is, then I plan on sending this amount in as an extra payment. If I only saved a couple of bucks then I roll over the amount to the next month and so on untill it's enough for another payment.

I track what I spend on everything...groceries, going out to eat, etc...

So for instance if I only buy groceries on sale and I can save $10 or $20 per visit, then I add that savings to the notebook.

Going out to restaurants, or rather cutting back on going out, saves a lot too. If I normally go out to eat 3 times a week and I can cut that down to once or twice a week, then I give myself credit for "not going out". Sometimes it's unavoidable so then instead of ordering a soda or beer I'll drink water. All these little changes make a big difference. Around where I live sodas are up to 2-3 bucks...easy peasy to cut that out of my tab. Beers are trying to reach $10 a pint for the "hand crafted" microbrews. Of course this has driven up the price of Miller lite and Coors lite, etc...

All these things add up. Also for all the single guys out there...in this day and age it's OK to have the ladies pay every once in a while. Or split the bill...tell her your "Dutch" and this is how we do it where I'm from. Also if a woman can settle for McDonalds every once in a while, she's a keeper in my book.

 

getting my 2017 Tacoma TRD Sport 4x4 double cab long bed MSRP $48K out the door for $38,686 hopefully get to pick it up tomorrow.. tow package, all weather floor mats, tri fold tonneau cover, etc... thats here in Guam so expected to pay more for it unfortunately..

Got pretty lucky I think. 2017 TRD OR with premium tech package, tri-fold cover, and all-weather mats for $35K flat.

 

Damn good deal! I got lucky and was friends with the sales manager and he gave me just above his dealer price at a tad over 37K. I got the same with tri fold lid , tow package, no all weather mats though

 

Yeah I just caught it at the right time because they were having a tough time moving Access Cabs so Toyota had a huge incentive discount, plus a $500 military rebate. I wasn't really interested in the premium and tech package, but I'm glad I have it now.

 

Need to also mention the loan term as that will affect the rate as well. 48 month loans often will have a lower rate than 84 month loans.

Credit union I used here in the Atlanta area for my truck has A+ tier (740+) rate of 1.8% up to 48 months and 3.75% up to 84 months with various in between.

Interest rates incorporate risk of default which definitely can vary by location/region.

 

I literally have the same truck on order and my salesman told me today that it will be here between February 3-8th. I'm right around the same price, but mine is a lease. Did you go with the dark satin or lighter alloys?
