So I've been sitting on some 4runner rims for a while now. They are the 17 rock warrior style. Ive Been thinking about tire options and just don't know what I want to do. But I have some concerns because I read these require a very specific and expensive lug nut.

My question is are they needed. I don't want to sound cheap when it comes to safety but are there other options? I guess I don't fully understand what these specific lugs do. And if $50 gorilla lugs will work just as good as $200 toyota ptr27-89100 I would like to save that difference. But if it's the only option then I'm fine with that.

Someone correct me if I'm wrong but I guess toyota version is extended. But wouldn't this gorilla lug work the same? 68138

Looking for input and suggestions. Thanks.

You need the Toyota lugs because the lug holes are much deeper than normal. The back end of each lug is longer to make it easier to keep the key on it. Also the keys are longer than the one gorilla supplies.

So I guess I never looked at how deep they sit in the wheel. I will check it out when I get home. So there is no other lug nut available other then the toyota ones. Is that the same lug the 4runner uses on those wheels?

You might find this helpful, I have lug length measurements on page 2.

You are going to need the Toyota lug kit.
