really? my bro-in-law has DirectTV and loves it. I'm not worried about the contract (2 years). I'm really not picky with what I get as long as it works, I don't have to have the latest and greatest, but I just wanted to make sure I wasn't overpaying for something basically lol

Did you price Comcast, or is it even available in your area?

it is available. it's close to the same price since I get a bundle discount with directv/at&t plus some benefits to my cell phone being at&t. all in all it worked out around the same price, but more benefits to at&t/directv.

i have at&T now and have there high speed plan we have great fiber in the area. We pay for tv and internet through them. We have 3 tv's with the boxes which are wireless so its great for having cookouts and watching tv and football games on the back porch and i think our bill is $110 a month

That's the same price mine will be, I will have free streaming from their apps so I'm basically wireless (stream off phone/tablet/ps4). I wasn't going to pay an extra 100$ for a wireless over wired box though when I have streaming capabilities.

One of the worst tech companies for complying with unconstitutional requests from the government in regards to handing over your personal info and browsing data. In fact Snowden showed us that AT&T allowed the Govt to install a device that copied internet traffic in real time in one of their internet hubs on the west coast.

ouch, how on earth do you not have fiber in bham? I'm looking forward to the day google fiber comes into Huntsville, which could be anytime, or it could be years. Even if I don't switch to it, it's going to make pricing just that much more competitive

    Exactly my thoughts...It's sad really.

Google just got shut down in Huntsville. We don't want them either, southern light all the way!! (only offer commercial through)

Back to your dog Scotty. Have you tried leaving a couple of your unwashed clothing items ( read your strong scent) where your dogs sleeps while you are away? Might be of comfort to him until you return.

Last I heard it was, their contractor got kicked out of Huntsville because they didn't have the right licenses.

I haven't yet because he sleeps with me. He's always just slept in my bed beside me and the 2 nights we've done so far he's great at sleeping with me. It's just during the day when I'm going around doing things. I've done my best to not leave him alone at the house.

right, the main contractor got a "cease and desist" but that doesn't affect google coming. just having to get another contractor to be the main.

They are also finding its costing WAY more than expected. The more problems they have the better, they will be a lot of competition for us just because of the name...

he is actually getting one this weekend. my sister's dog keeps escaping their backyard (wood slat fence she crawls under) so I'm taking her in. My new house has a 6ft tall chain link fence. I'm really looking forward to him having a friend.

absolutely. like I said, I probably won't switch to them..but competition is ALWAYS welcomed.

I have directv but even if I didn't id do the same thing when I enter costco. When I see the guys mouth open I politely cut him off, "I already have it". I add in quickly how I like it so I don't sound like a dick. 10 seconds not to bad. Oh, directv $140?, in my second year, and charter 60 mbps at $50? I have always hated charter and the Internet was always hit and miss but this past year it's been ok. Cuttingthe cord at the end of the directv contract
