I'm always happy to help out fellow members. Saturday was really a good time on top of the work that was done. Had about 15 members/trucks at my house for pretty much most of the day.

 

what kind of paint did you use to do this?? I am waiting for my exhaust to arrive but I want to paint the whole thing black and do the exhaust tip like this... did you do the primer spray first then the gloss paint?

Replaced the silver center panel trim and cluster trim with matte black pieces.

 

@jht did you wrap them or did you buy the pieces already like that?

 

I bought them. I tried wrapping the silver ones first, but my wrapping skills sucked, so I just bought the matte black ones.

I ordered a clifford 5906X remote start/security with a

$59 DBALL2 Databus All Combo Bypass Module

DBALL2 interface module. I chose this one because it is compatible with manual transmissions, color screen, and 1 mile range. I'm hoping I receive both pieces by Friday so I can install it Friday.

 

will it still work with the push start feature? and can u still use the door handle to lock and unlock?

 

I have a 6 MT, no smart key for me

Since I got rid of the 4x4 on the stock decal, went ahead and added the matte black 4x4 to the tailgate... so people know I'm certified Mall Rated!!!

 

I read that the Remote Start shuts off when you shift out of Park. I think you have to use the Push to Start to be able to drive off with these remotes so the Smart Key is in control. Any experts please confirm or deny!

 

Just installed Raptor 4" OE Curved Black Oval Nerf Bars and a Gator Hybrid tonneau cover. Now just have to get used to adjusting my entry/exit technique, but wife and kids definitely appreciate the step up.

For those that are interested, I got these from Auto Customs (they have companion websites for tonneaus and running boards) and they gave me a small "package" discount.

 

All of the remote starts for the smart key (push-to-start) Tacomas shut off when the door is opened. Even if you bypass the door pin, it'd still shut off when you hit the brake. No way around it. For those with the keyed ignitions, it stays running and you just put the key in, turn it and go. Just a straight

$59 dball2 databus all combo bypass module

dball2 is the best option for those with smart keys unless you need a full alarm system.
