Anyone run first gen tundra ebc rotors with the tundra calipers on your first gen or overkill?

Been looking at the tundra upgrade (rotors/calipers) but wondering if doing that plus going to ebc pads will be worth it

 

It's behind the interior fuse block
At the top .

Pull the lower panel under the steering wheel and then reach up and around behind the fuse block .

 

That's what I'm doing

 

I'm running tundra brakes with EBC slotted rotors and green stuff pads. If you're going through the trouble of a brake upgrade, you might as well go all the way. It makes a big difference, especially with bigger tires. Don't bother with trying to upgrade your booster/MC though

 

You got part numbers for the pads? I've found 2 different ones and not sure which is correct.

Also which calipers and brake lines did you go with?

 

Cool, are the brake line end fitting, that goes into the new caliper the same as the stock taco caliper. Just asking because I already got stainless lines made for it now

Think it's a banjo fitting

 

They are 13wl calipers, napa remans. Brake lines are wheelers extended, had to use a couple copper washers to get the banjo bolt to seal correctly but no issues since.

Yeah they are taco lines with a banjo fitting, I know the wheelers ones will work but you'll have to check your specific fitting.

 

They should fit. If the tundra rotors takes a banjo fitting as well as the Tacoma the end fitment should be the same.. in theory

Yeah I think I went way past the torque spec on those lol. No problems though.

 

Maybe someday in the future you'll might see one than they start to multiply. That's what happened to me 4 years ago.

 

mine bolted straight into the tundra calipers with no modifications to line or bolt- I did use new crush washers- but I just reused my factory lines as they where toyota OEM and brand new when I had the frame replaced not long before and I was not planning to lift it.
one of my favorite mods to date; huge improvement in stopping power over stock!

 

Sounds good, braking feeling a little on then not so touchy side lately. Hoping I don't have a small leak somewhere

I'm changing out my hawk pads for oem. The hawk pads always made my tires and wheels red from the dust. Real annoying.

 

Can confirm. My wheels look like they've been powder coated in a nice rust color.
