The UCAs on my truck are 30k miles old and just now needing new Uniballs. I'm debating on getting covers when I replace them or if I should leave them as is.

Looks like I'm doing coils, uniballs, and brake lines as soon as I get a day to work. Probably next saturday

Yeah @fishfinder did that. Great deal. When I upgrade size I'll get one. Once I have a full rack I'm going with that same tent since I'll have a lot more space.

As convenient as a rtt would be idk about the practicality with a large dog, and a low garage... haha

I did look at the Thielson. looked neat!

I really like the denver outfitters model overroam. I like the little hood that comes on it https://denveroutfitters.com/product/overroam-roof-top-tent/

Is 30k a good lifetime? I had assumed you'd get more miles than that but quite frankly I don't know. I've started being very anal with spraying out the underside often and giving the suspension a good rinse and greasing the uniballs will come too.

The shipping alone is pretty killer. I would love a roof top tent, I just don't know if it's the most practical use of my roof space with surfboards going on top

I think I'll run them as an experiment and see.

No clue. Was hoping somebody could chime in on expected lifetime. I keep my rig exceptionally clean when I'm not off roading/camping. However, I do go up to the snow a lot to board and a lot of the wheeling I do is muddy so I know that destroys uniballs.

That is neat looking. IDK how I would feel about spending that much for the triangle. lots of loss of space...

I wish! I think that is kite lake in the background. Too bad they felt the need to drive far off trail to get their glory shot...

I like that it is pretty low profile and can attach things to it/On top of it, but could never justify that much on a tent.

I really just need more roof top space. Surfboards take up a whole roof top, ultimately making a RTT impractical. A trailer would give me an extra roof to put a tent on and extra storage space. The main problem I'm running into is that camping trips down to the Outer Banks can't be done with more than me and two additional passengers. That is with the roof rack unused and surfboards in the 4Runner though.

I've decided to save and buy a tear drop down the line. There is a guy that lives near me that owns a custom tear drop company who's prices are very reasonable compared to others out there.

I'm going with a simple 4x8, small off road trailer with a full camp kitchen in the back and timbren axleless suspsension. Pretty damn sick.

This. I wonder how much weight you could put on the top without it collapsing

Tents on 4runners are the most pita thing to set up. Not for someone that doesn't enjoy getting up and down and all around while stretching and reaching over a wet dirty truck. Then you get to do it again in the morning. Given that I'll still do it a couple times this year but not looking forward to the set up. Rather drap the trailer if I cant. So much easier to walk around it and set the tent up.
My friend has a one similar to that. When we get to camp he is sitting in a lawnchair drinking beer in about 2 mins. Compared to me doing squats on the damn sliders to access the tent zippers.

The great part for me is that I'll put my small RTT on top along with a shower system, and once I have kids someday, they have the nice cold tent to sleep in while I get the warm, hard sided trailer. Plus that galley in back is badass. #GlampingGoals.
