Had my '17 ORDCSB for about a month/1400 miles now. Coming from an '08 F250 Lariat (I could write a book on why not to buy these trucks). I've been reading through this thread page by page over the last few weeks trying to catch up. Can't keep up. Here's my first mod. +10% Boost, right? '15 FLHXS

Just engine enamel gloss from Home Depot .
I cleaned it removed it sanded it and put it back on then I realized the pipe leading up to the tip visible from the rear needed to be blacked out too so I sprayed a little on the part you see from behind without removing the whole exhaust protecting areas with trash bags from over spray. No primer was necessary 20170119_192900.jpg

Got my 5k tune-up, everything actually went fairly well. The only problem is that apparently new york passed a law recently that doesn't allow vehicles to run less than 70% tints, or else the dealers won't pass inspection. Kinda bs

So there's no way avoiding in me drilling. I would really hate drilling into the ride unless necessary.

Just installed mine too. Got mine to help with hood chips. Very easy install.

Tomorrow I'll set it on the hood and you guys can let me know what you think of it just sitting there. There are places on the scoop where I would be able to bolt it onto the hood instead of using the sticky tape. I haven't ruled out the sports hood but if people think this is a pretty close look, then I probably won't bother with the swap and spending money to get my truck back to Oregon from New Jersey. $300 verses $1,000 is what I'm looking at right now. However, I don't want it to look like it doesn't belong either. I'm kind of going after that natural look.

Didn't have a deflector on my 2000 Taco and hood looked sandblasted. I had a deflector on my 2008 Taco and still had tiny chips across the hood. Have not put one on my 2016. The way the hood and facia are shaped I worry more about grille and surround getting chips than hood itself getting chips. Just my 2 cents.

You could have a clear bra put on. But it'd be about 500 bucks to cover the front end

I'm worried about the front of the hood where most of the chips would hit. Everything else in front has clear film protection up to the seams so I don't get lines when it's removed. Also clear on mirrors, behind rear wheels and doors cups.

I had even considered having my surround and bumper double sprayed with clear coat for added protection. I already have several very small (if you look for them) chips in my front bumper.
