Just make sure you make note of the original location where it bolts up to the yoke flanges, mark it (front & rear) so you'll bolt it back up exactly the way it was........

just mark it with the soap stone? Also, do put in park with the emergency brake on and jack it up on the front, or do I leave in neutral and jack it up from the back, with some wheel chocks in the front?

just finished the repair, not too bad. Jacked the rear up after lossening the bolts from the yoke. Then took the u-joint off, after marking it.

    Then came the bullshit

I pulled out the locking rings and then......pounded and pulled and could not get the spider free. Finally after an hour I went to a local shop and asked them to get this spider out for me, they did it in a 15 minutes and charged me $20 , but what else could I do?

After that everything went smoothly, after installing the new u-joint I greased all other grease fittings and snugged up the bolts.

Took her for a short spin, didn't notice the noise as before and didn't notice anything new.

If this installed wrong it would have made some type of noise, correct?

Also, while looking under the truck I noticed another set of u-joints located just after the carrier bearing, could the noise be coming from there as well?

finally, thanks to evryone who gave me some tips, your guidance is appreciated.:)
