    2005 Tan Tacoma Base 5 LUG: Beaten , abused and still running strong.
    Fat Bobs 2.75 lift and level with short AAL, 16x8 Level 8 Guardian Wheels, 245/75R16 Toyo Open Country ATII, custom trans shift kit(home made), Trans temp. and Vac gauge, URD fuel pump upgrade(going back to stock soon).
    I couldn't agree more.
    Personally speaking if my tire requires more than 1.5 ounces of weight I have them broken back down and rebalanced. To this date unless a tire is worn unevenly due to mechanical issues I have yet to require additional weight.

    at this point I'm leaning either the Kumho or Hankook they are the lightest weigh within a lb of each other and cost is only 2 bocks per tire difference. Now ive gotta find some nice light black wheels.

    I have the P265/70/17 Nitto Grappler G2's great tire so far. Ride way smoother and quieter than the Duratracs I had.

    I use 4 ply Destination A/Ts and have on several vehicles. I love them. I think it is a fantastic AT tire that works well for real world applications. The first mod I did to my 2017 was to take the factory tires off (400 miles) and replace them with 265/75 16 Destination ATs. I also run 2nd gen OR wheels.

    Too few to list.
    265/75R16 in Duratrac load C weighs 45lbs each. Get the lightest wheel to offset some of the tire weight.

    I think the concerns expressed on this forum about tire weight are overblown. Mine are load range E and I get excellent gas mileage--a bit over 25 mpg, as posted elsewhere. I would prefer load range C, but such an animal was not available where I bought these.

    What is the weight of your stock 245?

    I have 225/75/16 on my 4 cyl

    When they need replacing (6000 more miles) I am looking to go to 235/75/16 or so

    Width will add weight since you are wanting to go 265

    I just got the Falken Wildpeak AT, they make a P rated in the size you want. I think they are 43 lbs per tire. Got all four free shipping and not tax, $458 out the door from jet.com.

    I have Cooper Discoverer AT/3 and Level 8 MK6. 265/75/16. Paid right at $1000 for the set from discount tire direct. I have 19,000 miles on the combo and they still look new. They're quiet on the road and great performance off road/snow.

    Did a bunch of research and it seems to have paid off. Hankook Dynapros wouldve been my 1B choice but AT/3 were cheaper at the time.

    Yea I realize ill add a little weight that's why im trying to find the lightest tires and rims. Anyone have a sight for the lightweight rims I saw one some where but I cant find it again.

    That's not been my experience. I went from stock steel wheels with the 245/75-16 Dunlop tires to aluminum TRD OR wheels with Firestone Destination LE2s in 265/70-16. The tires are 9 pounds heavier than stock and height is within 3/8 of an inch. I'm not sure what the stock steel wheels or the aluminum TRD ORs weigh, but my mileage is down about between 8-10%, (and I keep really good records). And that's not due to winter fuel blend. I made the switch last February, so I've tracked it for almost a year.

    Could well be. Mine had load range E tires on it when I bought it. I replaced them later with one size larger load range E tires (all on stock steel rims). I keep a log of miles and fuel and have averaged 25+ mpg since I got the truck. Might have been better with lighter rims and tires.

    I am not sure about the weights of the size you are looking for but I can tell you what I am doing to cut down on weight. Countersteer Type X wheels (20 lbs each, 5.5 lbs lighter than my TRD Sport wheels) and P285/70R17 Firestone Destination AT tires at 41lbs each (the same weight as the stock 265 rubber). So I am going up in tire size significantly but decreasing total weight per corner. Mine is a DD used for firewood and bike hauling so the P rated tire is perfect and is more comfortable than an E rated tire. the E rated only has 300 lbs more load capacity anyway.
