Ok Debbie Downer.... I am the proud owner of a C6 Corvette, GM's flagship vehicle. You think I am scared of a few issues..HAH!!

Plus, I am not obligated to purchase when it comes in..

On second thought, DON'T read all of the 3rd gen issue threads.

You'll be hating your truck before you even get it ;)

Highly advisable to go test drive an auto before yours comes in and get an idea of what you're going to be in for.

Coming from a 7.3 Stroke, I think you may find the torque a bit less than you are accustomed to.

OK, regarding the test drive... The 3.5 in the Avalon, and the Avalon in general will destroy the Tacoma in a race... How they got more HP with the very odd power delivery is beyond me in the Tacoma, the 3.90 gears is part of it I suppose...

My commute is 7 miles across town... Just wanted a new toy... It will be fine..

Trust me, the 3.5 in the Avalon feels NOTHING like the 3.5 in the Tacoma.

My wife has the 3.5 in her Toyota and it rocks there.

I was literally shocked by how much weaker it was in the Tacoma.

Granted it's a heavier vehicle, but it feels like 2 cylinders are dead until you get it over 4000 RPM.

It may not feel that dramatically weaker to some, but coming from my wife's RAV4 with almost the same engine, I was expecting MUCH more.

Having an LS2 C6 and a 7.3 stroke, you really need to go drive one.

    I have driven one..3.5 Auto...
I think the low rear end gears have a lot to do with it and gearing in general... Power and torque delivery is very high in the rev band as well. Not suited for a truck but they have to bow to the MPG folks..

I hear you, I actually like the truck, but there are few that don't that tend to visit every thread to vent.
I too have a sports car, an e46 m3, probably most problematic m3 to date, having owned that for a decade, no Toyota can scare me

    My apologies then.

I was under the impression that you had not yet driven one.

If you drove one and you liked it, you are golden

For me, I am just looking for something different... Trust me, the Avalon has had a few recalls already also.. Toyota is not the gods gift to the driving public it once was:goingcrazy:

Dont let the nay sayyers sway you. Its a solid truck. You seem to understand and be okay with the main gripe people have.

Congrats on the new truck, mod it up and enjoy being able to find parking in a parking lot with out taking up 2 spaces.

I'm all for the TRD off road but I'd take a limited over a sport any day.
