I want one too, but need the 2014 version. Have fun taking off the supercharger and valve covers to put those gears on! :boink:

Actually the top work was the easy part, rest was a pain and some redneck engineering to get the pump to fit in my demello. There's literally no room on the front of the fj compared to the taco.

Hey guys, I'm interested in buying the AFE filter to replace the K&N one that comes with the kit. However, I can't ship it to my Cali address. Anyone in the Reno area willing to take delivery so I can pick it up?

    IMG_4704.jpg
I try to keep up with this thread as much as possible, but it's hard to do. Is this filter okay to use with the SC? I see bits and pieces of bad experiences with the SC and don't want to exacerbate any issues with this filter. Any input would be appreciated.

I have the same intake and no problems with it. I believe @TacoCat has it as well.

Not the intake, it's not disconnecting the battery, it's not the fuel pressure, it's not adding a boost gauge, it's not adding a fuel tap, it's not adding a fuel pressure gauge. It's the Bully Dog.

The Bully Dog tuner works fine and dandy for some. Nothing but headaches for others.

Just so you guys know, bully dog tune is magnuson tune. This tune is carb compliant and the the trd/dealer is not. That's why we are having all these problems. Neither Toyota or magnuson will ever confirm this but I've been told some first hand knowledge. If anyone installs this supercharger do not go with bully dog/magnuson tune go straight to dealer for the flash or ucon. Also no one, I repeat no one has been able to return to stock with the bd programmer. Maybe the op should edit the first post so others can see this, buyer beware.

I haven't been following this very closely... is there a TLDR of why we can't flash a stock tune to replace the BD/Magnuson tune? We can flash the BD/Magnuson tune over stock what prevents us from going the other direction?

Thanks for confirming what I'm sure many of us suspected! CARB NON-compliance would be enough of a reason all by itself for me to prefer the TRD tune. The rest of the problems simply confirm where I'm going when I install in the spring...

Lil lift, bumpers, SC, UCON, headers, etc.
Because the bd tune labels itself as the trd flash so when you go to the dealer it acts like it already has the trd flash.
    You can't remove it either.

That is the filter you want, less chance of issue with the dry version. And that is about the best intake to get, same as the first version of the TRD intake.

Thanks. That last bit is what I'm hanging up on though... why can't it be removed? If the ECU can be written to the BD/Magnuson fake TRD flash then why can't the ECU be flashed to a stock tune and then taken to the dealer for the real TRD flash?

Sorry if that's been covered... a lot has gone on in this thread over the past few weeks.

I have been happy with my purchase. Seemed like the obvious choice. May need a hand getting the exhaust cam gears off. I did the first side, then on the next side my elbow made a popping sound so I got some help.
AFR looks great. Power all over. Spinning my 34s easy.

Damn, that sucks. But is that only regarding the return to stock option in the tuner? I'm thinking of flashing a different tune with the tuner instead.

I may try selecting the non-SC option and downloading that file to flash and see what happens unless that's what you or others have tried.

Dude don't do it, all those tunes are trash. Go get the dealer flash or ucon or mapecu3. The dealer tune is only 80 bucks and is proven to work.

I've tried numerous options and ways, by my count in must have flashed the ecu 50 times going back and forth. Each time made no difference in how it ran.

I already have the BD flash. It runs fine for me, don't get me wrong, but I want to upgrade to the 2.85 pulley and it seems nobody's had luck with that and the BD flashes. I don't really need that CARB shit and never did get a sticker in the mail. I was hoping to get a NA tune then have the dealer give me the TRD flash so I can then go to the 2.85.

That really sucks man, hope you get it worked out.
