One more thing: My rental limited is fantastic. No issues whatsoever.

So just to let you guys see I'm not a troll.....not all these trucks have problems. I will say there are several design flaws on the truck and several things that make me scratch my head.

I never owned a 2nd, but I drove a 1st Gen for 15 years before getting a 2016. Loved my oldie, gave it to my son, but I totally love my 3d gen. Would never go back. I don't have the problems some people have listed, all good!!!

Gen 1 and Gen 2 were made here too, don't see that as a problem.

Do you need to know, or care?
Fluid levels were low, corrected by dealer...no rear end howl...transmission is definitely different from 2nd Gen, but not something that is game changer...no warped discs...driveline? Not sure what your issue is. Yes I do have the axle wrap issue when cold, but so did my 2nd Gen...cylinder problem, not explained, so unsure what you are having there too.

Have fun with that, when the turbo goes out after the warrantee expires on that ecoboost...

Please spare me the obligatory picky owner/you know nothing about working on cars posts...already dealt with that in my on thread about the issues. It's all real....some trucks are great and some have issues like mine. Let's not hijack this mans post any further.

The only question to ask yourself is whether you should buy a first gen or a third gen. Either you get a badass rough, noisy mini truck or a smooth quiet mid size. Reliability is a push between them all. Most of this website just wants to see the latest and greatest fail.

Don't know why anyone would want to see the Tacoma fail, I personally would like to see them be problem free and continue to succeed!!!

Ford's a joke. I have a 2013 FX4 with the 3.5 Ecoboost. The radiator is a sealed unit, so good luck changing/checking the coolant. Remote start also went out at 50k miles.

That's because Ford expected the truck to stop running at 40k miles. You see, they actually over-engineered the remote start and gave you more than you needed! :D

That's funny turbos last a million miles on 18 wheelers. This isn't the 80's turbo technology has really advanced over the years. The ecoboost turbos are ceramic ball bearing turbos damn near bullet proof.

Lol! I thought the same thing when I wanted to buy a regular cab with a baby on the way. I was AMAZED when she casually said, "sure let's get it". I immediately threw her in the car and blasted the music so she couldn't rethink her decision.

For those of you saying the 3rd Gen hunts for gears, that issue was resolved a long time ago by a TSB update. So please stop bringing that up. Secondly the 3rd gen has more creature comforts and better gas mileage than the 2nd gen. Thirdly, the towing capacity of a 2nd gen is 6,500lbs. The towing capacity of a 3rd gen is 6,800lbs. So which do you think is better. Either way if you constantly towing that much weight, you should just buy a Tundra. Otherwise I've been very pleased with my 3rd gen.

Don't get me wrong it's a decent truck, but the company has their own set of problems too. Just like every car manufacturer.

Dude, you're talking about a turbo diesel engine on a 18 wheeler that its just breaking in at 120-140,000 miles. On a gasoline engine turbos add complication. They often bring more stress to the engine. They leak. They fail. They suffer from serious longevity problems. I'd rather take my chances on a naturally aspirated engine. Again good luck with that ecoboost.
