Nicely done indeed. This is the exact approach I'm taking on my 3.4 swapped 1st gen Runner. It looks like you are running 1/4" air line. If so, are you happy with the rate of flow, or if not is there any issue running 1/4" line on that compressor? Considering that an A/C compressor is typically pressurizing against a tiny expansion valve, I wouldn't think so, but lets see what y'all have to say about it.

Everything is 3/8" line, minus the guage. Flow rate is great, with the heavier line as well helps with the heat coming from the compressor.

interesting. I cant seem to find a 3/8 manifold like that, only 1/4", but it definitely was a great tip for this build. Where did you source all your parts? Amazon seems to have most things, but damn the brass fitting are expensive there...

Ebay and Amazon is where I sourced 95% of the parts. A few were from my local Ace hardware.
Certain parts I used from Viair for piece of mind.

Alright... So I need some input fast... I'm currently working with Sierra Expeditions on installing an ARB Dual Air Compressor into the truck... I wanted to find room under the hood, but thats a no go. Then I wanted it behind the rear seat but was worried about the noise factor. So their solution was to put it underneath mounted to the frame rail... Initially I didn't think anything of it since the ARB system has an intake that can be relocated as necessary but now I am second guessing this route all together... Why? H20!!!

They've already made a pretty bad ass mount/box to protect the compressor but I'm worried about any major water crossing (especially while running a locker - If I ever install one). The box/mount is located just in front of the rear crossmember and is definitely not water tight/proof but it is strong enough to resist minor impacts (plus there are other points on the truck that would hit rocks first). I'm just worried about water... Should I be worried about this location? Am I being overly cautious here? They want to finish up this project tomorrow and I am now questioning their chosen design. See pic...

    IMG_3803.jpg

Anyone ever have issues with these underneath? Fast input would be hugely appreciated...

I'm no expert, but I wouldn't want mine there. Deep water could fully submerge it, and it just doesn't sound like a good idea to me. Not sure how it much the compressor would like that. Imagine your compressor that low on the truck in a situation like this.:notsure:IMG_3551.jpg IMG_3552.jpg
I know @Nate87 mounted his under his bed and @916TacoTruck has his mounted in his bedside where the storage cubby was and they worked fine. Maybe they can chime in.

Is a small box somewhere in the bed out of the question?
    Good luck

Yeah right!? I agree... I'm a bit surprised Sierra Expeditions suggested this spot... it just doesnt seem smart...

Even under the bed it would be higher up and better than where it is now but still exposed in deep water...

And yeah there is no way I'd consider loosing more bed space... so a small box is out of the question...

Not an ARB, but I plan on mounting my Viair 444c on the side of the bed tub between the tub and the bedside. Going to make a L mount to spread the load a bit on the tub and will put a backing plate on the inside of the bed. Will use a similar setup to mount the 2 gallon tank.

I'm pretty sure the slee mount doesnt work with my CAI... Plus I'm still a little unsure how the relocation of the PS fluid works.

Right? And here I kept iterating my concern about the elements... I think I'll look into another location... UGH... time/money wasted.

Perhaps the slee mount idea can work after all. Thanks for the input.

I HAD mine mounted in the bedside where the cubby is. I never had any issues with the compressor working while mounted there. However, it gets real dirty and caked when wheeling. I am going to move it to a tool box in the bed similiar to what @tacomgee has.

So I talked with ARB this morning... It appears a ton of jeep guys have no problem mounting their compressors on the frame rails. The units are designed to put up with the elements (including water submersion and dust/dirt) as long as the intake is mounted somewhere safe. Between that and the box mount that SE made for me I've decided to stick with the location for now. Hell, it's got a 3 year warrantee so by then I'll put it through plenty of abuse to see how well it holds up. Now my only obstacle is making a Pelfreybilt Rear Skid fit down the road... Haha fingers crossed.

No issues with it under the bed. With the lift and tires I had, it was a good 4 feet off the ground. Plenty high and out the way. If any crossing come up, just make sure it's off.

Good to hear... Well and what compressor were you running? The more research and thought I've put into this the more I've been able to justify the location mainly because its an ARB product.

I'm about to tackle the onboard air myself. I have a train horn kit coming and in the future I'll add belayer bags in the rear.

ObA is next on my list.

Ordering the Slee Mount for my 5th gen and an arb single compressor. Gonna have it to fill up tires, run a rear locker, and pressurize a shower system.

I don't see the reason to spend double for something that does all the same things. It just airs up slightly faster. Anything will be better than the 15 dollar compressor I bought on Amazon and I'm pretty happy with how fast it airs up my tires.

Is there a reason other than faster airing up?
