Mark, my condolences for your difficult loss.

I'll echo your words: don't smoke. I smoked for ~15 years, quitting was the best thing I ever did. I still wonder if it will come back to haunt me.

@PurpleRain welcome to land of old farts driving kids' trucks. Except for @MQQSE who drives a Ram. o_O

:pccoffee:  I was going to do the NJ commute today, with a twist: the PA-NJ Turnpike connector bridge is out of commission, which is causing jammed traffic on all of the other bridges. So I was going to get up really early and beat the rush. Woke up to snow, said the heck with it. Not worth the aggro.

    Morning all:
Usually that's when I do the case prepping which is the most time consuming.

Saw where that bridge has a crack in it, if that were the Rt. I-80 bridge there would be a huge mess.
Barely a dusting here, they were calling for 1-2"s, flurrying now so may still get it.

    Morning MQQSE!

    Morning Carl.
'Crack' LOL. One of the I-beams split in two! I guess I really can't complain too much; that bridge is old enough to post in this thread.

    Good Morning Carl. :hattip:

Morning of day four of visit in PHX started with coffee and watching cartoons with grandkids; nothing to complain about here. :)

"old enough to post" ... well stated.

 Check out the Dingmans Ferry bridge across the Delaware! I think I crossed it twice, different to say the least. They don't build them like they used to!!!

Morning all. On vacation and enjoying the relaxing. Retirement can be tiring:cool:. It was a painter who found the "crack" in the bridge. After the cost of this repair there will probably be another toll increase. PA just had one this month. But on a brighter note there is less traffic during the morning rush hour on the eastern part of the tpke:). Enjoy the Grandkids and your vacation in PHX Rob.

I've been there, but not for quite a while. My mother grew up just up the road in Milford so we used to make the trek pretty often. For others' enlightenment, the Dingman's Ferry bridge is a privately owned toll bridge built in 1900 -- using parts salvaged from an older bridge!

Where we wanted to launch was iced in, we had to backtrack and go up the other side of the river to another launch about a mile below that launch.
22 deg, and running 28 mph upriver, BURRRR! Had my Striker hardwater parka on, and Clam bibs, GOOD STUFF! Face and hands got pretty cold though, but tolerable.

    Neat pic.!

    Ty.
It was a great morning that day.
Absolute calm and I stopped at a sunkin tree stump not long after this pic was taken.
I threw a rubber frog along the back side of the stump and teased it past. The water exploded
    And I landed this.

    image.jpg
    5 1/2 pounds.
I was alone with no one to bother me.
    In my own world.
I need more days like that
