Ok. I'll let you know by Friday at some point. My off days are Friday and Saturday but they can call me right before they start and screw everything up. Very hard for me to schedule anything

Sorry to always ask suspension questions in this thread but you guys and gals are a lot nicer than the general members when questions are posted on there. My question is, I am getting the Icon Stage 3 kit delivered this month - likely will be April or May before I install it as I am going to wait until I get new wheels/tires and install it all at once. My plan is to go about 2" lift on the front coil-overs and doing the AAL in the back. What would be the biggest tire size (in 17x8.5" with 4.3 backspace (eyeing the SCS Ray 10's)) I could go with and have zero rub w/o having to do any cutting on the truck? Also, should I do a spacer on the driver side to prevent the taco lean or should the coil-overs do a good job of preventing that from occurring?

I know we have a couple 3rd gen people in here. I believe @LadyRed went through this recently. Maybe one of them can chime in, as us second gen guys are a little different.

@stronghammer did you paint/finish your sliders before your buddy welded them? I have delayed painting and finishing mine thus far due to not knowing if he needs them bare to weld them up.

I would paint them beforehand, he can sand off the paint easily where needed with a angle grinder. If you paint them on the truck you'll either; get an ass ton of over spray, or have to do a lot of prep to keep that from haopening. You can spot paint once they are on the truck.

Yea I agree. I was more thinking of him getting them all welded up, then me getting them painted, then him welding them onto my 4Runner. I am just more less curious if he has a specific way he likes to do things.

he usually paints before welding to the vehicle. With sliders it's tough because you need to get under there and paint where he welds after. Plastic or something taped all down the side of your truck prevents any over spray and you can paint your pinch weld and portion of your frame while under there. The way sliders are though I'd paint them completely except for right where is will weld them.

Plasti-dipped upper fenders and emblems. satin black spray paint here and there inside and out. 5100's set to 1.75" up front . C channel front bumper. Maxxis bighorn 255/85/16
you could always tape up the parts getting welded to save some grind time

The only problem with this is that these aren't notched anywhere on where to weld everything up. So I am thinking its gonna be welder's discretion where he wants to weld them up. That is my only concern.

Then I would probably bring them bare to him to put together then paint, then weld, then paint underneath.

Have them welded together, but not welded to the truck. Paint the sliders, carry them back to have him weld them on the truck.
