That use to be common additive for concrete to have it set up faster, but it has gone away because it would rust the steel rebar and wire mess that was in the concrete. Also used it in the yard to keep the dust down but it rusted to many employees vehicles and they stopped using it...

Yeah like everything else double edge sword, never a free lunch. The Sodium Chloride is the worst, kills grass and everything else that wants to grow. For a LONG time LOL. I know people that cheap out and even use water softener salts. Can tell because the grass is permanently dead along the drive and even grass seed will not sprout.

At the beginning of the year picked up a couple hundred pounds of safe melt from an Ace hardware store that is closing in town. It is made from byproducts of corn ethanol production. That is the stuff I had on hand when got 2" of ice and the ice just laughed at it. Great in theory and expensive as hell too, if it wasn't 50% off wouldn't have got it. And doesn't work in the cold well. Hmmm have ice you have cold LOL. Magnesium Chloride is supposed to be even worse on metal for rust. Seems like everything out there has a side effect that is not good CaCl is about the best compromise that I can think of. What ever the county uses on the roads is the worst for rust that I am sure of did a test on steel wool with it. Would be nice to have underground hot water\steam heating system under the bricks like they do at work downtown. Worked in steam plants for 20 years watching water boil, think of that a lot. Or move! ;)

Seems nothing in this world is truly without a downside. :notsure: AZ is looking really good compared to AK right now, but I'm sure my perspective will be different when fishing season comes back around. ;)

Stay in the fight Mike. How's your boy holding up?

We've never had one of those before, but we found a brand new one along the trail on our last caribou hunt, complete with bags and roll of TP inside; added it to the kit. :D

    Marty :hattip:
Your trailer rig is getting right!

    Yes he has.

I'm with you on fishing season!!

Thanks for asking Rob he is doing well considering. He called me yesterday and he talked for more than half an hour. Think the reality is sinking in and he is a bit scared so I tried to keep things positive and lift him up as much as I could. Still waiting on a Hematology\Oncology Doc for him. Wish he was still being seen at Mayo Clinic but he is 26 now so came off my insurance and didn't want to go back there, too many bad memories. But all in all doing well mentally I feel. Enjoy those grand kids and great weather!

No Miss Weesa, I have been behaving. They are trying to get me in trouble.

I am sad though, I am going to miss the Big Sky event this year. Couldn't get the time off that week. :(
