    I'm hoping to do a few backcountry trips this year. I'd like to do a desert trip sometime early spring, to Joshua Tree, Black Rock, Death Valley...It's just a matter of getting organized, and having someone who's been there to guide.

    Righto...I might be down for a trip or two. The only thing is that most of those places a three day weekend is best. All my three day weekends are going to be taken up backpacking in the Sierras. I've been trying to climb all of CA's 14ers. I've done 4 out of 15.

    If you like the Desert I'm going to Baja from November 10th to the 26th (we'll actually be in Mexico from November 11th to the 24th). If you're interested in that I'd be more than happy to answer any questions. This year will by my third trip down there. Last year we did 1300 miles of dirt in 6 days. It's been me in my truck and two friends on KTM 640's. I ride too so we kinda rotate between the bikes and the truck. The truck carries the gas and the beer. Also 2017 is the 50th running of the Baja 1000 the first week we will be there

    Another cool area is the White Mountains East of Bishop. Also, White Mountain Peak, 14,252 feet is there. It's 14 miles round trip with about 2800 feet of elevation gain. And you can camp at 12,000 feet at the trail head. This is also the CA 14er you can ride to the summit on a bicycle.

    I know I am unknown in this thread. Heading from the bay tomorrow thru Tahoe into general creek campground near the lake. Intend to fuck about in the snow, take some photographs and drink bourbon by a campfire. If anyone is already in the area and wants to do some playing with trucks in the snow then drop me a line. Ill be around until I lose service.

    Looks like I'll be heading to White Mountain Peak in the White Mountains the Weekend of August 24-27.

    White Mountain peak is an "easier" 14er. It's also bikable. There is camping at the trail head at 12,000 feet and in the nearby national forest. For me we'll head up Friday night after work. Sleep at the trail head, hike/bike the peak Saturday morning and drive back home Sunday.

    It's a lot of fun. My friend I went with in November is down there now. He took a bunch of drone videos he needs to edit. Supposedly he's going to edit them and put them on Youtube. Some day when he posts them I'll share.
