Passenger side floorboard wet

I have been noticing a mildew like smell for about a week. Decided to take the truck through a car wash yesterday and then vacuum out the truck. After the wash I lifted the weathertech on the right side and noticed what looked like condensation on the bottom of the floor mat. Felt the carpet and it was pretty wet.

I felt further up under the dash and it was dry. I've looked at the cabin filter and it's dry. I've looked at the ac hose, it's connected and not clogged. I haven't checked the stock roof rack to make sure nothing has leaked through there. Does anyone have any ideas for this? I'm running out of ideas.

I currently have the carpet pulled up and have the bottom exposed to try and dry it out. This is on my 2014 btw.

 

I believe the only thing that is on the passenger side dash is the heater core.

 

Search TW. Seems like I've heard of some roof or back wall leaks that somehow migrated to the passenger floor board before.

I know there are a few threads about this.

 

I've searched all day and read plenty of threads with nothing being resolved. No definite answers =/

 

Definitely check your roof rack then. And see if there's any moisture coming through the rear window if you have a slider.

 

Ive been having the same issues with my drivers side floor. after a rainy drive its SOAKED. like crazy wet.....I'd love to figure it out!

Windshield window seal, heater core, or roof rack. It's one of those 99% of the time

 

Not sure if this would apply to you, but I remember reading a thread a long time ago about a guy having moisture and wet carpet after trimming or cutting his pinch weld under the cab of his truck. Searched and couldn't find that thread again but I clearly remember reading it. Not sure if you've done anything in your wheel well our under the front floorboard that involved the pinch welds, but it could be a place to start looking. If you had to bend or notch a pinch weld for a slider to mount to the frame and that weld opened up, that would cause water intrusion I would guess.

Check you trim/gaskets around the door ALL around the interior of the Door/Frame. I seem to remember a guy had water getting channeled down around the door seals and it got trapped in the edge trim and ran onto the carpet.

 

I have heard many people talking about water leak after installing roof rack. My question is: if that is the case won't you see water leak signs on the head lining?
A while ago I noticed mildew smell couple of times after turning the heater to feet position. Also the truck wasn't being used for more then a week. I looked for water leak everywhere and couldn't find any.
On the other hand my Honda sunroof drain hose was unhooked and passenger side carpet was soaked for a while ( found accidentally) and did not smell anything at all and I'm OCD when it comes to my cars.
Another tip for wet car interior is that the car glass will get foggy most of the time.

 

I read it somewhere, possibly here, that someone was getting water in the truck from the engine bay. At the compartment where the wipers motor and accessories sit. Give it a look.

 

I read that too. Something about adding a 3/4 cover over an opening just under the air intake Cowel?

Also, There may be a drain hole/hose that drains condensation from the AC evap coil. IT might be clogged.

Read all those threads. It wasn't the ac evap or cowl. It's the roof rack. I tore the truck down to the side curtain airbag and got the gf to spray while I was laying under the dash (quite the sight I'm sure). It was slight at first when she sprayed near the top of the windshield but poured in when she hit the roof rack. Came in and funneled down the headliner spot that the airbag sits in. If the apillar plastics were on it would've funneled into the floorboard area. Gonna seal it up tomorrow.
