I would be counting down to the hour, if I had a retirement plan. My only hope is that my son becomes rich, but he might end up a music teacher.

About 8 years here before I can draw Social security, I might go before that though

Actually less than that because I have 1200 hours of sick time.

 

That should get rid of at least 5 months. lol

 

I'm still going to farm, just want to be done with shift work. I've done 30 years of shift work so far, never really bothered me until recently though.

 

Yup I have 1040 hours sick time and 1200 hours comp time saved up.

 

I'm tired of not sleeping good cause you're constantly either waiting for the radio to go off or the phone to ring. Idiots calling in the middle of the night for bs and lifting people up that absolutely refuse to help you in any way and weigh 2-3x more than me. Seen too many in this job with screwed up backs cause they kept doing it. Some services have the powered stretchers that lift the weight and the systems on the trucks where you don't have to lift them into the back. Problem is it's $40k per truck to fit them with that system plus the $8k or so for the electric stretcher. Maybe they will make it mandatory to be on every ambulance one day. It's amazing if you can't walk or are huge you're either going to be in the far back end of the house that isn't accessible or upstairs and weigh 3 tons.

 

Thinking about doing a feeler thread for the devil horn hats. See what I'm looking at as far as numbers.
