I've tried several searches and can't find this answer. If a Tacoma owner gets his frame replaced under the campaign, does his new frame come with any type of warranty? I am currently looking at a 2001 model that had it's frame replaced in 2011.

I've never heard or read of the new frames being warrantied, but I definitely don't know. I've had this question myself and haven't heard a definitive answer.

When they did my frame corrosion spray, I asked if it was covered and they said it's covered for 5 years. I assume it's the same if they replace the entire frame

I would have to assume that it would be covered just like any other frame. I can't imagine Toyota tell you to take a hike if the frame they replaced rusted again. They might tell you to move somewhere that doesn't salt their roads, though... :)

Hopefully the PO has documentation on the frame replacement that would be able to tell you the extent of the warranty.

Maybe someone who had their frame replaced could answer if they have any documentation indicating a new warranty. I'm concerned that the new frame has been exposed to 6 years of salt already.

When I sold my '01 with a replaced frame, all the paperwork went with it. But, I do not recall ever seeing or reading about any implied or expressed warranty on the new frame. I was just glad I got it, and that the truck was saved from the junk yard.

I would think that if there was NO warranty on the new frame, that would have been expressly pointed out upon replacement. I'm no lawyer, but I'd have a hard time if Toyota didn't continue some type of warranty on them (especially without telling you).

Might warrant a call to your local Toyota dealer service department...

Like I would expect from a big corporation, sucks. I think Toyota knew they didn't have a definitive fix with their frames yet, so they 'made their wrongs, right' by giving new frames. And now everyone assumes it's corrected so no warranty needed.... Man, I'm a conspiracy theorist, aren't I?

This is pure speculation, but I would think that the 15 year extended warranty from the "in service" date would have been still in affect. If so, not much coverage there as the frame would surely survive those few years from 2012-2016 for an '01. After that, you would be on your own. Stock up on fluid film.

Interesting thoughts, that sounds very plausible. Just like anything else repaired or replaced during a warranty. Makes sense.

This is one of those things no one really knows are the new frames going to hold up??

After all these trucks already received a new frame many people I talk with can not believe Toyota spent that much money on stupid old trucks (there words not mine)

If there are major problems with the new frames Toyota could decide we spent enough throw in the towel and walk away.

After all it is about profit one can only lose so much money .

    Time will tell

Let's be honest here guys - the youngest of our 1st gens are now 13 years old. Toyota can't keep bringing them back to life forever. I bought my 03 with a replaced frame and was so damn happy with that, I don't care that it doesn't have a warranty. What other car company has a warranty that lasts more than 10 years? We all have to face the sad fact that our greatest gen trucks won't be around forever - we just have to enjoy them while they last and like ghs57 said above, stock up on fluid film!

In considerarion of a purchase, if the frame is already showing serious rust issues and it's a 'new' frame, I'd only make the transaction with the mindset that there is NO warranty on the new frames. Because there likely isn't.

Thanks for all the replies. Hopefully I will be looking at it this weekend. It would be a nice upgrade from my 97.
