There was a post awhile ago about guys welding magnets and such to the drain plug. I can not verify if there is or is not a magnet as i have not done any oil changes. But i imagine that is pretty standard. I did buy a neodimium magnet and installed it next to the pan plug just in case.

FWIW, pull the dipstick out and wipe it, then wait a couple of minutes.... the oil will leave the tube and give you an accurate reading.... Seems like the oil "wicks" up the tube when the stick is in there...

Maybe late to the game but I just found these guys re Taco parts, in Canada, very reasonable prices, in fact insanely cheap compared to US and or the stealer. Just ordered a TRD grille, $550. CAD all in.

    Cheers

That is a dealership you know, it's Cochrane Toyota's online part store. But they are a great source for parts in Canada, especially if you are in the Calgary area.

Wasn't aware. There much cheaper than any dealer I've dealt with here in the GTA. Cheers

$550 seems high...what was your shipping? Online price is $400...or $425...I keep hearing people are getting them for $400cad still.

Hey Mike! I watched a few reviews you did of the 2016 and 2017 Tacoma TRD Sport 6M.
    Thanks for putting those together.

My manual transmission wasn't, I checked and filled it myself today as the dealer refused to check it. They simply said we've never had that problem before. o_O
Same was true for the front and rear diff.

You are saying your front and rear diffs were low?

Thanks for the heads up, first time hearing about low diff's. I know what I'm doing when I get home.

    Excellent idea!
I researched everything I could find about actual problems with the third gen and low rear diff fluid was a common problem. I figured I would check my front as well, sure glad I did!

You can buy magnetic drain plugs. Not sure what size the Tacoma plug is. Here is Amazon.ca link:
