So in lieu of getting a full on custom wrap -- what can I get to protect the white paint from the sun, rock chips, etc.?

Its brand new 2017 - and its going to get alot of mileage. Could be 60 days before I get the wrap put on.

Just looking for something semi-permanent or interim that is not too expensive but can last underneath a wrap or be taken off at some point perhaps at a point longer than 60 days from right now if I am happy with it.

    Thanks all!

Toyota and other Companies offer Paint Protection Film, it is a Clear Vinyl Like Substance that is applied to the Leading edges of the Fenders, Hood, Bumper, Door Edges, under the Door Handles, etc..

Film is great when installed correctly.

But for everywhere else, just use good washing practices:

    -A nice clean wash mitt
-Use an auto soap, NOT dish soap
-A separate soap and rinse bucket
-Pat dry, don't wipe, with a waffle weave microfiber drying towel
-Wax when you notice that water stops beading

White is great because the paint fades slower but it's a lot more effort to keep clean. Best part is that swirl marks show up less in direct sun compared to a darker color

Take it to Pit Stop Auto Detailing & Automotive Storage in Scottsdale. They put sealants and coat protection on high end cars like OptiCoat. Personally I just off road mine so I never would dump that kind of money into protecting the paint on a 40k Truck. But to each their own. Maybe under a grand to have it applied?

I bought a Leaf Blower for helping with drying my vehicles, it takes the heavy water off and out of cracks and crevices and then I am able to blot dry with a weave drying towel for what is left.

    Thanks for the suggestions guys.

i'm most worried about all these f**king rock chips and sand dust all over the damn roads in AZ - hitting the cab and glass from every direction while on the highway doing 70+.

I like the outside smooth and want it to stay like that for as long as possible.

I actually just added the Paint Protection Film to my Order for my 2017, I also was not wanting Rock Chips and bug damage.

My only mistake was buying a Corded Blower so I have to drag out an extension cord, but it was also an experiment to see how it would work, and believe it or not it helps to remove snow in the Winter too.

I got the paint protection film as a option when I ordered my truck. The film covers the hood, side mirrors, and front part of the fenders. I then purchased 3m films off Amazon for the whole front bumper and tried to install just one side of the bumper before I gave up, f*ck that lol. Company sent me a new piece so I could make the kit whole again, which I Will sell next month. Anyhow before I drove to Alaska 6 months ago, I had a company apply a clear bra to the whole bumper and grill for around 400. It was well worth it!! Funny part is I still got a rock chip between the fender and bumper on the driver side. I used DR. Color chip and you can't even notice it anymore.

Apply Xpel ultimate film. Wrap hood, bumper and side mirrors. $1,000
Then have Opticoat Pro applied over entire truck. $800

Then you are good to go.
