I thought they had a age limit set at 35 or so I vaguely remember. Unless you could Excell at the PT test and qualified for waivers.

 

There's waivers for everything. And it's 35 for enlisted recruits, different for prior service.

 

40 is what they told me today.

We probably spent 2hrs or more trying to turn a few rigs around when jdam, Alex, Devin and a handful of others went on a snow run last year. There was probably 7 of us total. I couldn't imagine 20.

 

Why would anyone think that many is a good idea? It's hard enough with normal conditions haha

 

I was trying to be polite I did a Christmas tree run a year or two before with them (@jeverich was with us). I can't remember exactly how many rigs went but I want to say around 8. We got into the snow and kept going til we high-marked. Ended up having to get everyone turned around. The sun had set by then and clusterfuck would be putting it nicely. Only a couple of rigs had winches. We spent a crap ton of time digging everyone out. There was a modified Jeep Commander with next to no modulating of the throttle pedal. The traction control would kick in as soon as you got onto it and it would go forward a foot and then promptly kamikaze right back into the snow bank that we'd dug it out of. It was well after dark by the time we made it back down the hill. I learned a hell of a lot that day. One of those things I learned is that I will never, never, do a run of any sort with more than six vehicles in the group, with a group of four being ideal. I mostly wheel/travel alone now.

 

For a second there I was all Ya gotta be kidding me! I thought it was another complaint thread about us "behaving badly."

Yup. I did a run last year but got bitched at on here that putting a cap on the number of trucks going was wrong and that we should let as many people go on runs as there is people wanting to go... So I just said fuck it knowing it would be a cluster fuck and that everyone in the group said the same thing. After that I don't lead many trips anymore because of it. That and a few other reasons

 

Foremost being that we all have a hell of a time keeping up with the Volvo.
