It's not that common unless your running 37's. My original rack has 180k on it. The last 35k with an lt kit and 34's. It's still holding strong

 

I'd also keep it as your week link. I carry a set of spares when I go on trips. It's probably the easiest part you could need to replace if something were to give on your front end.

 

That's what I was thinking. Just seeing if I was missing something major that would make it a worth wild mod.

 

Thats what I do. Spare set of gussetted spindles, spare hubs, spare tie rods, spare diffs, working on getting a spare driveshaft. Those are good failure points I'd like to have instead of blowing up more critical stuff. Although Diffs blowing up prob wont be a trail change, maybe just the rear, but thats just to limp me home if I blow up both diffs lol

So im running a deaver j59 soa leaf pack with 10’’ king smoothies w/ clickers and wheelers bumps (shaved a bit)

My problem is that im not getting the up travel that I would have liked to see out of the rear end (flex/droop is great).


How would you suggest I gain a little more uptravel without going sua but also while trying to retain current ride height?


A lift shackle set at 1.5” lift say would “theoretically” gain up travel but would result in my leafs going negative even faster right?

Fabbing a new bump pad (closer to the frame upwards) would also get more up travel but leafs would do negative again correct?

On the tacos the soa leaf packs seem to have little arch at ride height and know of shops actually building their tacomas with up to 4” negative arch... thoughts? (not trying to replace leaf packs annually)

Another possibility would be to run a hydro in the rear(keep current amount of up travel the same) but I would basically be riding bumps everywhere... dont want the truck to just buck all over the place due to the bumps(maybe low psi in the bumps?)

..or should I just let it go seeing as its just a mild MT setup and shouldn’t expect a lot?


Any thoughts/advice from the more knowledgable TW shock peeps is greatly appreciated

 

How does the travel you're getting compare to the range of the shocks? I.e. you're hard on the bumps, but have 2" of up-travel left in the shock, or the bumps are set based on the shock upper limit.

 

Why not SUA? Seems like that would get you what you want.

I have a bamf relocation so at bump I still have about 2 1/2 inches of shaft. At droop it's strapped but only about 1/2 inch

Just wondering if modifying my stock bump pad to allow more up-travel would be okay even if the leafs do go slightly negative. A local fab shop allows their toyota leafs to go sometimes up to 4” negative but also dont want to be replacing the leaf pack in a year or so.

Didn't go sua because I got a good deal on the deaver soa and also didn't want to go into the bedcage or do the hangers etc. if I went New I probably would have

 

I think it depends on leaf pack design. Call Deaver, they would be able to give you an authoratitive answer for the pack you have.
