Alright I been researching this for a while now and yes I watched the "chrisfix" video describing about a transmission fluid flush or just a drain and fill.

Just a few days ago I drained out what transmission fluid I had in the pan and filled it to the recommended fluid level. I have changed out the ATF fluid that was in the pan at 116K. The fluid I took out a couple of days ago wasn't burnt and was still a little reddish but seeing I had these little (shavings?) got me concerned is it to late for me to do a flush or will I be alright doing it real soon?

Your gona wana change filter anyways with all that in your fluid so your gona have to drop pan. i would think if the flakes were ferrous theyd be stuck to the magnets. I know metallic particles are normal but it seems like an excessive mount in the pics. I dont know enough about auto transmissions so il let someone more knowledgeable tell you exactly where to go from here.

There's no filter, just a screen. Particles that small will go right through. You could always swap the drain plug out for one with a magnet in the end of it, like the diff plugs. I wouldn't bother flushing, just do a couple drain and fills a week apart or so and you'll be good to go.

Yea I never actually opened the pan so I bet my magnets are pretty gunked up. I might do that sometime next week see what the pan has.

Guessing I can find a magnet drain plug at oreillys? Might just open up the pan and clean up the magnets and do what you said and drain it a couple more times.

You have about 6 magnets in your trans pan, a magnetic drain plug isn't gonna do much. Yes, they are always really gunked up when I take them apart. And I really beat on my trans'.

Pull the pan, clean the magnets. Do a few drain and fills over the next few oil changes with cheap ass Dex III and you'll be fine.

I would avoid doing the flush because from what Ive read they can cause more harm the good this late in the game. I was in a similar situation when I first got my truck and settled on draining it and refilling it at every oil change until it looks like normal. You can get a cheap synthetic atf at walmart so its not a big deal to change it more often.

Yea sucks because I bought everything to do the flush. But I know I'll use it when ever I have my transmission rebuilt to shift faster and put more power down.

when you drop the pan you'll drain about 6.5 quarts. depending on what year your truck is will determine the fluid version as well. I know 03-04 take the Type 4 (I bought the Mobil 1 equivalent)

I'll keep that in mind when I drop the pan.
