Hey Tucson peeps I need a little help. So it looks like my daughter is going to be going to college down there later this year and I need to find an apartment. Where is a decent affordable place not too far from campus.

What's the budget? I got a buddy who has a 4 bedroom house that he rents out rooms. Fairly cheap. Not a party house. He just graduated from the UA last year and works for Raytheon.

I have a crazy idea if you can swing it...
Buy a small condo for <$100,000, rent out the spare room to cover most expenses, build equity for 4 years, sell and recoup your money with good potential for profit (or keep it for rental income). I know this is crazy and most people don't have the down payment, but if you can do it, it could be worth it.
    3331 E Water St # B, Tucson, AZ 85716 is reasonably priced ($73,000).

Decent affordable close to campus. Pick two. I wish I was more help on this. My daughter went to the U of A but lived at home. It was a 35 minute commute but it was better than dorms or the small older homes that are around the campus. I'll ask a buddy who's daughter stayed near the campus for price and location. I'll get back to you later today with details

Lots of people do this. It's not a bad idea especially if your daughter has friends that can rent with her

If I wasn't about to sell it, I have a 4/2.5 sitting empty right now and a 3/2 (with a pool) that may be empty soon if I move back to Texas.

How do I reach these kiiiiiiiiiiids?

As someone who went to UofA recently Dukes advice is spot on. Pick one, cheap or close and from personal expirence close is always best. I lived all over and closer to campus was always better. My grades were better cuz it was easier to make it to an 8am class, I was more involved on campus, I went to more games and I didn't have to worry about how to get home cuz let's be honest party's are going to happen and a 5 minute walk is easier than a 30 minute uber. I can give you some great places to start, but she should start finding 2-3 other people to live with now because places fill up quick. We usually signed our lease towards the end of the school year.
