For y'all looking to relocate to western Nevada, here's the regional MLS link. The 'Map Search' feature under the 'Find A Home' dropdown makes it easy to see what's available and for how much- http://nnrmls.com/

Ok, I plugged in Gardnerville (since a few have mentioned that general area) into the search and was surprised by the price range. Anywhere from $170k to over 6 million. I love those mountain views. Seems like I've always lived somewhere where it's flat and a bit boring.

With our basin and range topography, there's pretty much nowhere in Nevada that doesn't have some type of mountain view. That said, I definitely get your point about the Minden/Gardnerville (Carson Valley) area because they do have, IMO, the best view of the Sierras from the Nevada side. In fact I plan to sell out next year and become a snowbird, while also picking up a square of land in that area--because of that view as well as the proximity to Carson City.

Any chance you could send me this info too? I have some property I need to sell down in Walker, CA and I'd rather go with a local realtor for it.

Think they have to be licensed in the other states to sell there. But, will send it in case he has someone he knows down there.

Sales tax increased in Washoe county and correct, Nevada still has no income tax. However our vehicle registration is $pendy as hell. My 2013 finally dropped below $400 last year.

Thankful for military exemptions. Not a NV resident and don't have to pay the government tax (saved me $3-400). Cost me $100 to register initially and $60 annually.

So for someone looking to relocate it's worth the time to do your homework on taxes county by county. Sounds like there could be some savings to be had by stepping across the county line into Storey or Lyon.

I'm in Lyon county and while I do some of my shopping in other counties, it's definitely cheaper to live here than Washoe. Here's the tax rates: https://tax.nv.gov/Publications/Sales_and_Use_Tax_Publications/

Great info, thanks much. I noticed the town of Dayton looks to be a growing area. The one part of Nevada that seems to be a heck of a deal when it comes to house prices that I've seen is Pahrump down towards the southern part of the state.

An extension of Vegas. No thanks. But hey they have hookers, fireworks, and a vineyard.

Ok, just from looking at the map I thought they maybe a little more disconnected. And it looked to be a good launching point to hit places like Death Valley or travel north when looking for snow. Good sized modern homes around $200k (give or take) and they seem to be plentiful.
