I remember my first camera (Rebel) came with the 18-55 and 55-250 as well. They are pretty good lenses for being kit lenses, especially the 18-55 from what I remember

Fujifilm's 18-55 kit lens is the highest quality kit lens I've ever seen. f/2.8-4, metal construction, high quality sharp glass, etc. I shoot primes only, but was super impressed when I used someone else's last summer.

Funny, i used to play with that shit.
    It'll get you nowhere.. lol
    Kinda neat for the beginner

If you're not too extreme with it its not so bad but still.
These are a couple HDR's from waaaaaaay back..

At the risk of being pedantic the main issue is not so much HDR itself (i.e. capturing a bracket of exposures and combining them into an HDR file) but rather the heavy handed tone mapping that is often applied to create a LDR output from the HDR file. It has become known as the "HDR look" to have way too much local contrast and saturation but the reality is you can create that look with just a single exposure or you can avoid that look even when working with an HDR capture.

A few years back there weren't good ways to process an HDR capture without doing some sort of tone mapping step because "normal" editing software wouldn't natively support an HDR file. These days LR, ACR and PS all support HDR formats. All three also let you combine a bracket into a HDR file without forcing a tone mapping step. I find when dealing with a scene with very large dynamic range I get the best results doing a bracket, combing to HDR with LR and then just using LR controls to deal with compressing the dynamic range. Far more "natural" results than the typical HDR software tone mapping.

    What he said...

    Very knowledgeable.
With that said, just get the right gear and the knowledge of your cameras manual capabilities, a good eye and good post processing software and get out there!!

HDR or "Bracketing" is sometimes useful...
