Thanks, good eye. I'm planning on getting my annual pass on the first day possible this year, April 10th.

I've done all of my doors so far (including the small access cab ones) and plan on doing the back wall this spring/summer when i can work in the driveway again.

Assuming that you didn't change anything else, I would like to hear your assessment of the new speakers vs. the factory units. I have an access cab with the base radio. I'm not interested in swapping the head unit or adding any other system components, but if better (not great, but better) sound can be had by simply swapping the speakers I would probably do it. Also, are you swamping the high-mounted door tweeters too?

I am lucky that my parents have a house in town so I get out to the backside and hatches harbor quite a bit.

Yea I used a hair dryer and fishing string and then removed the excess goo with an adhesive remover that my brother uses where he works. I don't think it was anything I could have done that chipped the paint. I think the badges may have been applied too early before the paint cured properly.
My truck came from an assembly line in new Mexico and apparently that's out of the ordinary for the toyotas around here. Maybe bad QC

You didn't ask me but this is the internet so here comes an opinion...

Biggest difference in sound will happen not from speakers changed, but getting rid of the stock head unit. I thought I read somewhere that the OEM (non JBL) h/u is rated at 17 watts.
The C-note ghetto fab BOSS audio 6" touch screen h/u I got off Amazon is rated at 80 watts. Even with the stock speakers in the difference was quite noticeable.
I'm not an audiophile nor very technical when it comes to wave forms and RMS and fancy-schmancy terminology but my crappy 38 year old ears for sure could tell the difference.

For what it's worth, I have NOT replaced the OEM tweeters yet but the other four in my doublecab are non-stock as of this last Sunday and overall I'm pleased.
I am going to eventually add a sub and amp but because I'm a n00b at car audio, I'm taking my time to choose my set up and save up probably 200-300 bucks which hopefully will effectively even out the lows that I'd like to hear.

/I'm timing Chad to see how long it takes to like this... ready... GO! :burnrubber:

So with the stock head unit I've noticed a significant improvement in sound quality. I haven't swapped the tweeters yet, but i'm planning on doing that in the next couple of months. Totally worth swapping out the stock 6x9s, especially for under $80 in my case.

That being said, replacing the head unit and speakers will give you the best results. I can tell at times that my speakers are under-powered. They can apparently handle 400w each or something like that.

Tacoma has the smallest magnet on a speaker I've EVER seen. Its slightly larger than a quarter. I agree with everyone about the head unit but even just swapping out speakers will make a huge difference. I haven't changed out my tweeters but am planning on it. If you don't change head unit buy component 6x9s with a crossover.

    Too few to list.
I think the biggest improvement in sound is switching to better speakers and using an amp to efficiently run those speakers. The head unit just puts out a signal and does not have enough clean power for aftermarket speakers and so the when you turn up the volume, the sound degrades.

I agree that upgrading the speakers will improve the sound quality but honestly to get even better quality would be to upgrade the head unit like the guy said earlier.
Actually when I upgraded my head unit the two rear speakers couldn't handle it and I had to upgrade them. For whatever reason my rear door speakers blew and not the front ones. But I have wayyyyy more control of where the frequencies go and how much I want certain frequencies amplified. Just my 2 cents
