We'll be at the Mint, 4th year in a row. DNF the first year, won 7100 in 2015 and 2016. Shooting for a threepeat. Will be out all week including the parade, come and say hello if you're so inclined.

And also, if anyone is spending the day in the Tranny Alley spectator area...4 I believe...and would be kind enough to get a little cell phone vid of us when we come through I'd be really grateful!

Truck belongs to Jim Borden. Was built mostly at Velocity Raceworks in Bakersfield I believe. Jim built it as a prerunner for Mexico but ran it a few times in 2015, at the Mint and V2R. I think they also raced it in a CODE or RECORD race or something like that in Mexico once last year but mostly it's a play truck for them. And Jim is an older gentleman who probably doesnt spend much time on social media and all so you probably won't see much of it.

It's a beautiful truck though. Too pretty to race, in my opinion. But nice to have the windows up and a/c on while listening to some tunes!

And a little of us passing them in 2015 at about 3:30...

Unless you know what you're taking and have the time to steal shocks I'm not sure security is worth it. I know it takes me about 30 mins to get my rear shocks off and if they are still charged they are not coming off.

We might be there, we were asked if we could handle all logistics and pit for a 2 brother team we race against locally.

True, apparently its a bigger risk than I thought. I agree though you'd have to droop it out but I have heard of people with cantilever set ups having their shocks stolen. Obviously thats a quick two bolts and they're gone lol

possible: yes. simple, easy, or beneficial: no.

just keep saving till you can purchase what is needed to do the install correctly the first time. for this you need custom spacers, non-standard bumpstop placement, different limit strap placement, never mind issues with shock joints potentially binding, valving and spring rate issues among other things

I have some nice fox 2.5x8's which are the correct size for a long travel set up that are barely used, spec'd for a total chaos kit, 600lb springs with like 700 miles on them I could sell you. Located in Corona Ca or orange county

    No.

Just be patient and save up.

Do it right, or don't do it at all.

Do you want to spend the money needed once, or spend twice the amount to build your truck in stages?

If you build it in stages, you'll have to tear the truck down multiple times instead of once. You'll also have a truck that you've torn down multiple times that is not better than when you started. What's the point of putting on a LT kit if you're running the wrong shocks? You can't use it off road so you spent all that money for no benefit.

Do what most people do: buy a piece to the puzzle when you can afford it, then wait till you have all the pieces and install it all at one time.

I know their first design seemed to have a lot of issues. For the price, it seems to not really be that beneficial unless you are getting it used for dirt cheap as the TC kits are a few hundred more new.

It is more then changing coilovers. If you don't change the bumps and the limit straps to match your small icons you'll destroy them. So you'll have to setup bumps and straps for the icons. Then when you get then new shocks..you have to redo the bumps and straps again.

    It isn't worth the effort.
