To me it seems it's a common issue on our trucks, especially off roading. I've seen numerous guys stall and then have to restart when climbing particular obstacles.

Like here, literally on the first try
    https://youtu.be/TFdhge9_imM

But this doesn't happen in drive, rather in park. I don't usually have a full tank, I linger around half a tank so I wouldn't know. I have a new fuel filter that I want to replace this coming weekend too and yes the pump is stock w/ a 7th injector.

    Dawg

Respect your opinion . Can you recommend a suspension set up for my 01 Double Cab?

    Currently:
Everything is original . 197k miles

    Usage:
    2-3 people inside always
    Has rear camper
    Bed used 50-100 lbs inside

    Goal:
    Keep stock driveability
    Moderate lift ok
    Comfort most important

    Thanks

I think I replaced mine at 180,000 miles. Stock/original everything, including shocks.

I went with a full OME suspension

    881 coils
    Nitrocharger shocks all around
    Dakar Leafs w/o the AAL

    Perfect set up for me.

    Thank you kindly sir.

How would you rate that setup compared to the OEM (quality wise). Additionally, did it give it a lift, if so how much?

The guy in that video just stalled from not using the clutch properly. Really common off-road going over obstacles. You're so focused on the obstacle and maneuvering you forget that coming to a stop means you'll stall.

Difference is night and day compared to the worn out saggy suspension.

It is definitely stiffer, which I like, and it carries weight beautifully. Off road (which is about 4x a year for me) is not even comparable. Especially when hauling gear.

My truck is bone stock when it comes to armor with the exception of sliders, which has a minimal effect on the suspension. I too have a topper on 99% of the time.

After it settled I'm probably at 2 to 2.25" of lift. My CV axles are still at a perfectly fine angle. Hell, the day we installed the lift the fins weren't even touching.

I'm very stoked with my purchase.

Interesting. Well I'm curious to know what my issue is then. I mean if it runs then whatever.

Mine occasionally idles super low like 300-500rpm and it is because my IAC is sticky. Have you checked your IAC?

I haven't, I have the one way IAC valve mod.

So how do you know it's the clutch on the video? At the end it happens again and the dude even asks "I wonder how much gas is left in the tank?"

And that's the funny thing cause it's only at start up, otherwise it idles fine around 700.

    Well in that case..

Id recommend a nice coilover like King. Use no preload at all and itll ride incredibly smooth. Last a long time and you can rebuild them and tune them as needed down the road if you decided to offroad more. You don't need the extended travel ones. With no lift you won't need UCAs and it'll align great.

The rear is a bit different. Bit harder to make it all around and comfy. Can run Dakar leafs or a Wheelers 4 or 5 leaf pack depending on your weight needs. With the topper, probably the Dakars or the 5 packs. Shocks can be 5100/OME/ or you can splurge for some Kings/foxes/whatever.

I ran Wheelers 8 pack(used) with fox shocks and king coil over with no preload for a long time and it road amazing. Better then it does now.

If you're on more of a budget. Going the OME route is tried and true. Can't go wrong with it. Wheelers can even modify the package for the Wheelers rear leafs if you want.

    @TashcomerTexas

I would check the simple stuff first. Fuel pumps shouldn't be affected by angle less than 35° (according to toyota, although many go far further than that without issue) either unless you were super low on fuel and even then I've fuel starved mine one or twice and if you slosh it a little she comes back. I think you're looking for similarities where none exist. The only thing your truck has in common with the dudes is the SC.

The guy outside the truck was clowning him, he even locked the tires up with the brake in one part. Stalling on angles and under supercharged load is not a common symptom for these trucks and likely not related. EFI should work in super extreme angles. No idea why that guy was bumbling around with those balloon tires and high revs when he could have lowered the pressure and crawled.

I'd start with IAC and look at a scan tool to see where your STFT and LTFT are.

I might have to bust out the protractor on the driveway, it's a steep hill.

The interesting thing is I saw a video of a dude in a turbocharged Tacoma and did the same thing. Stalled and then started it up again.

I'll look at the IAC and see what's up.

Actually kind of typical for turbo tacomas, the trucks can't deal with surging airflow. Unless you know 100% what someone's setup is, comparing the two does you no good. Boosting vehicles is something that is done by people with lots of experience and people with none. You never know what they were doing to achieve those results. The supercharger doesn't have that issue. A fuel pressure gauge can diagnose this issue quickly if you're dead set on it being a fuel related issue. But I have a feeling unless you start simple you'll waste a lot of time in speculation.
