I own a 2017 SR5 and am using an iPhone 6+ running iOS 10.2.1. Lately, when the phone connects via Bluetooth, the damn Entune Audio Plus system dials MY OWN cell number and calls MY iPhone. (Interestingly, the phone really isn't making a call, just the audio system, if that makes sense.). What's worse is the system won't let me hang up (pressing the soft key on the screen/hard key on the steering wheel). I even tried cycling the ignition (on/off) several times to no avail. In the end, I had to actually call someone on my iPhone to "kick the system in the pants" and get it to hang up! I just checked w/Toyota service and they said no updates/TSBs for the audio system.

Has anyone else experienced this problem? Suggestions?

I have a 2017 SR5 and am having the same issue. It doesn't do it all of the time but very frustrating when it happens. I did figure out if the headset mode button is lit up and can be selected on the screen it will take you out of it. When it's not lit up I have to take my phone out of the system and go through the pairing process again. Starting to frustrate me enough where I was seeing if there was something on the internet on how to fix it when I saw your post. Guess will take it in to see if they can do anything with it.

so I haven't installed Entune yet on my iPhone because all the reviews are so terrible. I just connect Bluetooth and do calls/txt's that way, or when I want to have quality sound from Pandora I just plug my phone in via USB and it sounds surprisingly well.

what would Entune give me extra of that? The one thing I can think of is the weather app. I don't have HD Radio where I'm at so therefore haven't even seen the weather app work. I wish it would work when I plug my phone in, but that hasn't work yet. and that doesn't seem like a good enough reason to install Entune.

please educate me if I 'm missing something!@

I believe you have to be stopped to actually see the message. Also, if you want it to read them to you, I have to go to apps/messages then on my iPhone turn Bluetooth off then back on. Now when a text comes in I have the option to have it read. Have to do it every time I start it. Automakers never fix any of this sh!t so don't hold your breath.

This is interesting. My truck recently quit playing tunes over Bluetooth and I have no idea why. Disconnecting and repairing hasn't fixed it either. Maybe there's a larger issue at play here.

There are alot of iphone issues with the system. Mine would play all music at 2x speed the first time I connected, always had to unpair/repair to fix it.

E: my current Pixel has worked fine though, knock on wood.

Fixed that for you; while you may be having that problem, don't erroneously say everyone is having it.

Works just fine here with my iphone7. I did have to turn off quick contacts on the head unit and delete/repair my phone. Once. Three months ago.

Only real issue is that Pandora via Entune app sometimes isn't working when I start it up, requiring I force-quit and restart the Entune app on my phone.

All the other stuff always works fine, no idea what the issue is with the Pandora piece.

I don't think it's limited to the iPhone. The dialing happened once on my Tacoma and a few times on my Sienna and I'm using Android.

I'm an Android guy but when traveling the wife will hook up her phone to Entune either by BT or cable and she will run the entertainment. Seems to work. I did not put the Entune app on her phone. So I would also be interested in what the Entune app would do if more of if using it?

I had issues previously with mine only receiving one text and reading it to me, after that I would not get any notifications of texts. Also pandora would be hit or miss for it to work. I ended up deleting my entune sytem to factory and on my iphone forgetting (removing) "tacoma" from my bluetooth connections. After I did that I set everything back up and it's been working like a charm for weeks. The weather app is just pitiful by the way...ashame. I wish they'd put out an update for this thing already, it's been so damn long. I wish it came with apple car play, oh well.

    Have you used CarPlay much?

I had it for a week in a rental (work travel). The concept is nice, and it works well enough for longer drives, but the wired connection ruins it for short trips / running errands where you're making a lot of stops. All the plugging in and unplugging every time I got in and out of the car got annoying really quickly.

Contrast to Entune, which while having its own issues, works a lot better for just leaving your phone in your pocket or popping it onto a wireless charging magnetic mount. :D

I think the first wireless CarPlay implementations are starting to now come out. Long overdue.

I can't say that I have but I've just been reading about it now and then. Wow I did not know you had to plug it in all the time. That is unfortunate and I def do no like that. That would be a deal breaker for me as I like the fact we can connect via bluetooth to entunes. In any case I'm glad entunes has been working pretty darn well since I wiped it on both the unit and my iphone.

Quoting myself here, as I saw CarPlay brought up. I had CarPlay in my previous head unit and HATED IT! ok, so it had a familiar interface, but that was about it. I disabled it and rather used normal phone plug to USB like I say above.

had this happen yesterday...not the first time either...frustrating as hell, I need to figure out why it may be occuring.

I was worried someone on the other end was listening to my say WTF?! repeatedly and get frustrated.

To end it I finally turned off blue tooth on my iPhone, then just turned it back on.

You know what, I actually remember a similar situation. Prior to wiping my entunes and bluetooth connection when I would use the google app (not the bowser) on my 7+ it would make a phone call to my number and immediately stop. I do not know if it was a bug in the actual google app or an issue with entunes. I have not opened the app since I've done the wipe but I'll try it today to see if it still occurs. Is there a particular task you are doing on your phone when this happens? Like I said the google app caused it for me but it would stop after 1 ring. I'm going to test it when I leave work to see if it still happens. When it happened for me I was running iOS 10.2, now I am on 10.2.1. Also the google app has updated w/ bug fixes since. I'll report back with findings.

Wow! I never thought my post would generate so much discussion!

For me, everything with the phone and Entune seems to be working fine except for the dumb system dialing my own phone. I truly believe it's a problem with Entune and not the phone. The problem with the system "self-dialing" is intermittent, so when I bring it to the dealer, they can't find anything wrong because, at that moment, there is nothing wrong (or, at least, there appears to be nothing wrong)! The system seems to work well enough about 99% of the time. It's that 1%, when it stubbornly won't stop calling my phone, that it drives me nuts.

In reading through the posts, some of you refer to an "Entune app". I'm not aware of/don't have that. Is that something I need to load on the phone? I just paired the phone with the system and that was it. Granted, I have the Entune Audio Plus System (not the Premium) which may not require an app on the phone.

Thanks for your posts, and if I find out any useful information, I'll let you all know.

    Keep on truckin'!

The audio plus does not have apps, only the premium ones you can download apps.

    Looking for a quick answer

I have the Premium JBL with Nav, Sub etc - Do I/we have a single cd drive
inside the head unit or a 6 CD Feed? I can play one cd just wondering
how or if I can get 6 in there? My homework has said NO its only a single.
I mean i have 134 different ways of playing music through it lol but
    im wondering is all.

    - i have no issues with my phone syncing or anything you guys are
discussing at all with my iPhone SE
