Clazzio leather seat covers!

Dollar for dollar the best mod you will ever buy. On the verge of ripping out the wifes CoverKing Hefty Sacks and buying her Clazzios too.

 

Either use a heat gun or hold a gun on a friend and make him do it.

 

Just ordered set of black leather w/seat warmers.

 

Installed Clazzio covers a few weeks back, I seem to have developed a solenoid clicking sound from the passenger seat, anyone experience something similar? My factory seats are heated, so knowing me I F'd something up.

First is the seat heater working. If not probably accidentally unplugged it. Also make sure your dash passenger airbag light is working properly. You also could have unplugged that switch. Definitely want to check both of those connections. Should be a simple snap together fix. May need a flashlight and extension mirror. Worse case is unbolt the seat to lift and inspect it. Could be the weight reading switch for the passenger airbag. Check all the wires and connections before you have a chance to get in an accident. Safety first.

Seat covers are installed and looking sharp. I'll get some more photos up later. They installed the seat heaters as well. Looks clean, they used an add-a-fuse and after poking around looking for a good place for the switches we mutually agreed on using the IBHS3 single switch for both seats. They mounted the switch on the blank switch spot on the drivers left of the steering wheel. While it's not ideal for the passenger to not have control of the seat heat, it was the least intrusive to the truck. If for some reason I want to remove the covers and heaters I don't have any obvious holes to plug, just the dummy switch on the left panel. I dropped the truck off at 10:30 am and they had it done by 4 pm.

We discussed using the IBHS1 round switches up near the Qi and ECT switches, but after they poked around in there neither of us wanted to drill holes in a difficult to replace trim piece. Long term I my take the @mthopton approach, buy this:

I'd then re-wire the heaters in the seats to the new switches, install the new trim piece and get all fancy. But for now, I've got a solid functional intermediate solution that looks good.

 

Look good! Let's see some pics of the mounting for the heaters. How are the wrinkles? They fit them tight?

 

Shipped the headrests to Clazzio to be embroidered, made an appointment with the auto detailed for mine to be installed on Friday.
Cant wait to see these in person.

 

Yeah, they are tight. Still a few wrinkles from packaging. It's also been cold. They said after a few warm days the wrinkles should disappear. I'll likely go through and snug them up in the spring if needed. I'm slowly warming up to the idea of spending $35k on a truck and then punching holes and tapping into the wiring. Amazed by all the brave folks on this site, gotta step up my game. For now though, I'm pretty nervous about modifying my truck, haven't even made the first payment yet. The Clazzio guys picked up on my nervousness and took the low risk approach for me. This summer I'll likely get a bit more adventurous on other mods like light bars, etc...

 

Just a thought, but has anyone tried tossing these things in the dryer before applying?

 

Covers came in today, ordered Wednesday! Not thrilled with the install instructions for the seat heaters.

 

Ya the instructions for heaters suck. Haven't done mine yet, but curious to see how you do yours.

 

I attached to heat pad to the cover and tapped into the fuse panel. May not be the best way to do it, but it works.

 

Did you keep the in-line fuse attached to the power wire as well as attach another fuse to an add a circuit at the fuse box?

I'm thinking I would add a circuit to an open fuse location, use the in-line fuses for that and run the driver and passenger side power wire (red) to the single add a circuit at the fuse box.

 

Could you post the instructions? I'm thinking about getting heated seats and I want to know how difficult this might be.

How hard is the kit to wire?
It's pretty simple, really... There is one ground, and one positive lead for each seat. Simply join the 2 kits together, and run the black to a good solid ground, and run the red to a circuit that turns on and off with the key. A pretty common circuit to tap into is the cigarette lighter. In most vehicles, the amperage is high enough to run both seats on high without blowing a fuse, and they usually turn off with the key.

 

I just added a circuit. Didn't keep the additional in line fuse, guess it wouldn't have hurt. I grounded mine to one of the seat bolts. They work great.

 

I'm skimming through the pages looking at all the pictures. All I'm seeing is black. Does anyone have the tan clazzio covers? I'm ready to pull the trigger on them but I'm curious to know how well they color match the rest of my tan interior.
