you still gotta subtract it lol. The price for a TRD grill from Toyota is about 400 bucks it's just not high in demand. Its easier to find. So people sell it cheap so they can get rid of a grille they aren't using haha.

Pro Grille is overrated. The SR/5 grilles look better, I've even seen an aftermarket mesh grill with small white Toyota letters on it that looks better and is probably cheaper and more durable as well.

Man, that sucks. I'm really glad that I found mine on eBay for a steep discount. I couldn't bring myself to pay $389, much less the price increase.

In my opinion Toyota did this because in the large scale a few grille sales is chump change regardless of how much they cost, and secondly they want exclusivity of their "Pro" package. I mean if they didn't then they'd be producing Pro level trucks in mass and had already replaced the OR years ago with the 2nd gen Pro releases. Want to circumvent buying the truck to get the grille/looks? Toyota will make your wallet bleed for it. They could give a shit what people think a piece of plastic is worth realistically.

Sorry bros. It was me. I called corporate last night and asked them "How come so many bros be hating on my Pro but buy Pro parts?"

So they jacked up the price. :brianr:

You got me all concerned as the grill is a future plan for me. I'm in Canada so I had to check with my dealership to see if the price affects us. He told me that for Feb there was no price increase on the grill and it's still $400 CAN. Maybe it'll increase in March. :notsure:

    This is bullshit.
Here in Canada where hundreds of Americans are buying the grill at Tacotown Copchrane for $400CAD...someone told me they saw on their computer screen the actual price it cost the shop owner...said he saw $250CAD...so lot of profit was being made. If that is true, this increase is the nail in the coffin!

If you are in Canada, you are better to buy it in Canada - about $400 CA + shipping from Cochrane Toyota (Tacomatown) in AB. I think there are a couple of other Canadian on line vendors as well.

Toyota doesn't give a damn about "exclusitivity" they care about making money. I guarantee when they designed the 3rd Gen, the chrome TRD grille was seen by them as a huge improvement, they are probably shocked that most buyers hate it. The number of PRO grilles being sold probably caught them off guard but it certainly doesn't piss them off.

Raising the price is a cold calculated business decision, if they can't keep them in stock at the current pricing structure you have two choices. 1. Invest capital to increase capacity or 2. Raise the cost per item to better balance production to demand. Choice No. 1 adds significant cost on the front side requiring a set number of units to be sold to just break even. Choice No. 2 requires zero capital expenditure and is guaranteed to increase profit per unit, the only unknown is how high the price goes before killing sales. The volume won't justify adding production capacity, so Choice No.2 is really the only option.

Toyota knows the total number of units sold and can predict the percentage of buyers willing to pay extra for a grille they don't need. Any of you would do the same thing if you were in business to sell a product. No one sits around and wonders how little they can make on an item.
