I admire what Lee Iacoca did with Jeep/Chrysler in a lot of ways with the AMC buyout and helping usher in the era of the capable SUV (the 4Runner was relatively quiet in the states, and Nissan never really bothered to build anything serious in the States, with the Patrol being an AUS build). But I want to slap whoever keeps hamstringing the Jeep lineup.

Stick dual 44s under everything, stick an NV-241 in everything, and keep a good pushrod V8 option around, or build a new factory capable of producing an updated 4.0L. If Toyota has proven anything, it's that there is PLENTY of market segment looking for legitimate, hard-use 4WDs. The Taco and 4Runner are sleek and cool and modern, but can still do all the things you want in the backcountry. And dealerships can't keep them in stock. I don't know why the domestic companies are so afraid of following suit. I know there's some marketing analyst who is convincing them that crossovers are where the money's at, but for fuck's sake, live a little. Offer something other than the Rubicon for enthusiasts.

It's not even just Jeep, either. Chevy doesn't even offer solid axles in their one tons. Think of that. Ford are the only ones smart enough to pull their heads out of their asses and are now putting the Bronco back together, but until the others follow suit, Yotas are going to dominate.

Those are nice. There is a 1977 F350 doublecab highboy here. It's very well reworked and obviously sits in a garage somewhere. A light blue, 35's, custom bumpers etc..

My AAL seemed to really add some height to the rear of the truck. I figured it would settle after driving it, but not really.

I wish it were a bit warmer outside for when I go check and re-torque the u-bolts at some time today.

it's gonna take more than a day to settle. You'll need to put some weight back there and drive a for a month or two.

    Emissions...

Jeep can't build anything with a real engine because without all the patriots and compasses and other crossover bullshit, Jeep's average gas milage and emissions can't support a guzzler of a V8, so we get anemic 6's that kind of get less crappy numbers which keeps Jeep's average where it needs to be. Doesn't seem to be related to demand, just what's legal and what's not legal in the US. Toyota can offset the 4runners and Tacos with carollas and camrys and hybrids, Jeep doesn't have that option.

Alternately, Jeep is looking to slim their lineup down so the crap engines they do have can perform even better. This means heavy D44's and other items will never make the general lineup because they need to cut weight, not add it.

Well theres plenty of weight... judging by my fat ass and the Taco lean I have created.

Maybe I'll find some sweet jumps to take it off of this weekend to break it in. :anonymous:

I almost thought about just doing the AAL on the drivers side to level it out. I should've, then I wouldnt have a busted rib.
