Summary/synopsis? How'd the Wrangler do at hauling a refrigerator or a dozen boxes of hardwood flooring? :D

I small trailer works better then the truck. I use a 6x10 utility trailer a lot.

The limitation was the size; but it kept up. Review was positive.

I was impressed by the tech (which is on the OR too) which made me feel a little silly for getting a sport, but then again - I'd probably use crawl once a year. No LB in Canada with OR either - and I hauled a refrigerator already last week.

Thanks for the summary. That'd be about what I'd expect; wheelbase, approach/departure angles, and front-end articulation being the main possible limiting things... things that may not be as limiting in conditions we'd tend to take a new $40k truck. ;)

(I owned a JKU Wrangler for four years, lots of fun, but ultimately not quite as useful on a day to day basis as a SUV or truck.)

Almost as easy as taking the roof and doors off the Tacoma and enjoying a nice summer day :D

    Sorry, couldn't resist. :)

I had a 2015 Rubicon for a year (worked for Chrysler, salaried lease). Dropping the top was fun, it looked great and my girlfriend loved it. I had the manual transmission and it was a fantastic transmission / clutch. But it was noisy, surprisingly gutless in the top end, highway merging(compared to the Taco but it could have been the standard mud tires) terrible in rain/ice (if it was snowing or any of those listed I was the guy in the granny lane driving at granny speeds).

Off-road, loose sand, PACKED snow it was an absolute monster. I haven't done anything comparable with the Taco yet.

I bought an old jeep cherokee on 33s for cheap so i could have both :) yup that jeep will go some places. Im sure my taco will too, but its still too new so i dont want to try ‍♀️ I like the short wheelbase of my jeep

Wrangler was a bitch and a half taking that roof back and rolling up the side & rear windows in their protective bag (since that plastic scratches if you look at it funny). Doors off was nice, leaned them up against the garage wall. Riding down the highway with it all opened up was a lot of fun.

Kinda sucked when a summer thunderstorm popped up and I was ten miles from home though...

As for nice summer days with the Taco, that's what my funcar is for; it folds its hardtop back with one button. Doors don't come off, but that's okay since it sits so low. Not only does it stop on a time, but I can reach down and pick it up off the pavement without shifting in my seat. :D

When I had my CJ7, it stayed in my basement with the top/doors off so I didn't have to fiddle with the erector set soft top hardware.

I put the hard top on at the end of summer and left it 'til spring.

I just had to put in the jibe because that is a common retort on the Wrangler forum whenever a comparison is made to a different vehicle (oh yeah, how good did the windshield fold down?) :D

Yeah, no worries, I knew it for what it was. There were a lot of things I liked about my Wrangler, but the combination of funcar and Tacoma is better suited to my needs and wants right now. Taco for DD and hauling stuff and riding FS roads / camping wherever; funcar for sunny pleasant days and chasing down Harleys in N.Ga. (no, of course it won't touch a sportbike or even sport-tourer if the rider is trying)

Did pretty good considering size and mediocre tires.

For a real 1:1 they really should have compared an Unlimited (4 door) Rubicon to the TRD, though.

Wranglers kick the Tacoma hands down off road. It's just that the truck bed is more practical and the daily driver aspect of a Wrangler sucks.

Well, yeah. It's the gold standard of a factory off-road vehicle. But all vehicles are compromises.

I don't think anyone was disputing that; was just a look at how this package competes within its intended purpose to the alternatives in the market. The stats don't lie, the approach and departure angles, shorter wheelbase, solid axles of the jeep will win everytime in an off road environment.
