Why is it that the Tacoma is the only vehicle the aftermarket programmers don't tune??

Pretty sure we have this as well. I have driven both auto and man, the auto felt like it ran a lot better.

I definitely think there's a market for tunes with the countless complaints about the engine/transmission. Got a chance to drive a tuned GMC canyon and it felt MUCH better than stock tacoma and stock GM twins. Tunes for the GMs are relatively cheap ($300, but that's my opinion compared to my audi where $600 was where tunes started). Manufacturers dial the cars/trucks back so much to meet all the government mandates for efficiency...but then people just continually mash the pedal to make up for it.

I'd be interested in something if it bypassed all the EPA bull****, I could care less about emissions or the like, so if there was a simple way to remove all the dumbing down to achieve those standards I'd be all for it.

Blasphemer!!! All the Manual Trans guys fall all over themselves speaking about how great the truck performs compared to the auto. I have yet to test drive a Manual 3rd Gen.

With as riced out as Tacoma's already are on this site, it would be hilarious to see what the slap-shifting Automatic-Transmission, block-lifted crowd would do to their trucks ECU's.

If they do come out with one dont be the 1st to get. Wait for the bugs to be worked out. I can only speak from experiance dealing with Bullydog programmers. Everyone seems to love bullydog but when it comes to getting one for a new model, it seems to get rushed out to the public to soon.
Installed one on a 2012 F150 ecoboost. Several attempts to get it to load information from my PC (called tech support a few times). Worked great once done then started getting turbo intake errors. Had to remove it and sell it.
Tried installing one on my 2014 tundra. Several tries to upload info from ECU with no luck. Sent it back.
Both of them purchased the day they were available for that model year.

Whoa! Ebay is chock full of performance enhancers!

This one seems like the best deal at $9

35% more power and 25% more torque!

Sounds legit because it has Nitro in the name.

In reality though, the biggest performance gain would be from improved power-to-weight ratio afforded by the removal of $9 from your wallet.

Makes you wonder if somewhere, people actually buy this stuff.

Maybe someone could hire a fired VW programmer and have them write a program for the Toyota. Sorry had to say it.. LOL

IIRC the manual has a different gearing. And yes it likes to be revved up. There is a thread here somewhere that some one did some programming to change the shift points on his auto.

As a smart (debatable) programmer with a decade of real-world experience, I must break some real unfortunate news to you: real-world programming is slightly more complicated than pushing the "hack CIA" button on TV shows. And reverse-engineering a vehicle's ECU is about a hundred times more complicated than normal programming tasks.

If it was easy to "crack this ecu," you'd be doing it yourself.
