I used to want a WRX, but thanks to TacomaWorld, I now know better.

 

I still kinda want one as long as its under warranty. I have decided/Im getting the Jeep pickup when i comes out even if its a turd. Will be keeping the Tacoma as a toy because i love it.

The Gf's well maintained 13' forester needing a new motor at 90k kinda sucked. Considering since i have owned my Tacoma since i graduated High School in 09, i feel as if i have been spoiled by owning a very reliable vehicle. I bought it with 150k and have put 100k and 8 years out of it. Most people will say i have not been kind to it. Which is a rev-limiter bouncing, axle snapping, bent frame understatement. It has outlived 5 cars i or my GF has had (Honda, Jeep, Ford1, Ford2 ,and subaru) Even though its no longer my DD i didn't worry about buying a $2000 mustang off my dad in need of a motor as a DD because i know my Tacoma is still in the driveway.

1st gen for the win! Any plans to SAS?

 

Actually i had quite the SAS fund saved up and planed on doing it last summer when my fabricator friend was back from shipping out hes a marine engineer. I still have a 14 bolt and some other parts in his yard for it. But just before i pulled the trigger on it, my name came up unexpectedly on the town mooring list (many years too early) and i ended up buying a J80 race boat for my other passion. The plan is still there it may be a bit farther than expected with the house and all that fun stuff.

 

Just looked up the boat , do you compete? I don't know squat about sailing, but I did go to the Volvo Ocean race when they made the stop in Boston a few years ago. The boats are amazing!

 

I've seen a ton of odd failures on Subaru H4s. Head gaskets, dropped valve guides, blown turbos that send shrapnel through the block. That said, the rest of the drivetrain, electrical, etc. is generally solid and the H6 engines are as well.

I think the most solid Subarus were the later 2nd gen H6 Outbacks (03-04).

Guy needs a new septic (failed Title V in MA) so gonna take it off his total bill.

 

Decent trade. Though I'd imagine that $50 off anything having to do with septic doesn't amount to much

 

No not really, a new septic design (and all design/permitting, site survey work, and soil testing) can get pretty expensive. $50 is a drop in the shit bucket at that point.

 

I have sailed a decent amount of my life. Been fortunate enough to sail in many races on an incredible amount of boats, some that are insanely quick and famous in their own right. Iv been fortunate enough to be lucky and get to have been able to sail with some pretty great/famous racers and learn some stuff from them. I usually race with a group of friends on Wednesday nights and do the bigger events with them or people i have met along the way, if my normal crew isn't in that event. But this summer i will be trying my hand at starting my own crew (yikes) and try unseating my friends from my local Wednesday night champions! I don't think that i will be doing much besides local beer can racing, unless i get my friends committed for some regional championships. (most of them are spending time on merchant ships as @eborgie knows). I will definitely join the big boys on the fun/expensive races such as Bermuda/Distance races go.

 

Even without the barter seems pretty reasonable to bring truck out.

 

Damn! Good luck this season, and starting a new crew.

 

They will be back. Lots of my shipmates are looking to come back shoreside to settle down with families.
