Has anyone had any paint issues on the lower sides of thier truck. I have Barcelona red and the paint has a waverly texture in the area where a two tone paint would be if these trucks offered two tone.

Curious if this was a defect or if others experienced this

Mine has it, I assume it's there for a reason. Maybe they put it on thicker right there to resist scratches from crap flying up off the road? That's my guess.

its called an orange peal, its a tougher part of the door, like everyone said, its suppose to add protection, it does, only problem with mine is the paint is coming off on one of the doors because of the previous owner:rolleyes:

I work for Toyota, Princeton Indiana plant. It's called anti-chip and does as the name implies. It is applied on top of the ed coat and under the primer and paint. I don't suggest messing with it. Pain in the ass to remove and repair. Let it do it's thing. Canadian models also get an additional overlay in key areas.

It's been on Toyota trucks since the 1980's. One of the best things they do.

The second day I had the truck I washed it and noticed this anti-chip stuff. I got a bit nervous and went to see the dealer. Man I felt like an idiot.

    I bet.

I went in when my rear passenger door wouldn't open from the inside.

I swear i hit the little switch in the jamb at least twice and it didn't 'unlock' it.

It did when the sales guy did it...
