I have a 17 tacoma 4x4 and I did find any grease fittings on main drive shaft or diff drive shaft. Have they gone to sealed u joints?

From my understanding they did do away with the Zerks except for a couple up front.

They got tired of all of the 16 owners complaining about the lack of grease and removed the ability to service this.

2017 Tacoma 4x4. Just greased the front driveshaft two days ago, there was a zerk on both U-joints. The back driveshaft had no zerks.

Correct. No zerks on the slip yoke or U joints on the driveshaft, one on each end (2 total) of the prop shaft.

I'm kind of glad my '16 has them. It's nothing to hit them when I do an oil change. The ones on my '03 are still original, just hit every oil change.

BTW, my oil changes will be somewhere between 5-7000 miles, just like my '03 has had for 200,000 miles.

Glad it wasn't just me. I only found two. Was going to look again when the ground is dry. Saved me the trouble.

Wish I would have read this before I went out to try to grease mine earlier...

Not too happy about Toyota's decision here

Seems like 50% of 16's have rear fittings and 0% of 17's have them.

I haven't greased many fittings yet but it's part of the Service #3 (32k)

My truck has rear grease fittings. :bananadance:

Really should be greasing these from day one as many of us have found them full of air and with little to no grease in them on day one.

I greased mine around 2000km's when I had the rear leaf spring squeak and I was trying to isolate the noise, they weren't too bad. Everyone has a different perception of how much grease needs to be in them.

I did do some water crossings and it always makes me feel better when I can force a shit ton of grease through them.

I spent over 30 minutes under it trying to find them until I got smart and skipped to the end of the 52+ page "check your U joints" thread and learned the zerks were deleted mid 2016. Well, not that smart, because then I went back out to verify what I clearly already knew and spent like 30 more minutes rolling around.

I am going to grease my 2 tomorrow while installing my nerfs. Dying to get under it and see how the PA salt has treated it. My buddy has a lift to use so no crawling.

My mechanic looked for 15 minutes and couldn't find any. Mine is 17 sr5 4x4.

Could some please take/post a few pictures showing where they are located?
